We are seeking an experienced Financial Crimes Compliance Manager to lead and enhance our Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), sanctions, and regulatory compliance programs. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining compliance frameworks, managing global teams, overseeing risk assessments, driving operational excellence, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AML/CTF compliance, transaction monitoring, sanctions governance, risk management, and regulatory program oversight within banking, insurance, consulting, or financial services environments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and enhancement of AML, sanctions, transaction monitoring, and financial crimes compliance programs.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, controls, and governance frameworks to meet regulatory obligations.
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor regulatory developments and recommend program enhancements accordingly.
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 25+ high-performing compliance professionals across global locations.
- Establish quality assurance standards and drive continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Create employee development plans, training curricula, and performance management processes.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and compliance excellence.
Risk Management & Controls
- Evaluate AML systems, controls, and monitoring processes to identify gaps and remediation opportunities.
- Lead compliance testing, audits, investigations, and control assessments.
- Implement quality control measures to improve effectiveness and regulatory readiness.
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory examinations.
Stakeholder & Client Management
- Partner with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and external clients to develop practical compliance solutions.
- Present compliance metrics, risk assessments, and program updates to executive leadership and governance committees.
- Prepare periodic management and board-level reporting on compliance performance and emerging risks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align compliance objectives with business strategies.
Operational Excellence
- Drive process optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and process documentation.
- Utilize data analytics and reporting tools to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and support decision-making.
- Lead transformation initiatives related to financial crimes compliance programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, CRCM, ACAMS, CPA, CA, or equivalent preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in AML, financial crimes compliance, risk management, audit, or regulatory compliance.
- Experience leading compliance teams and managing global or cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience implementing AML, KYC, sanctions, and transaction monitoring programs.
- Experience in banking, insurance, consulting, financial services, or fintech environments.
- Prior experience managing client relationships and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: CAD 88,000-119,000 annually (based on experience)
