Responsibilities &Duties
CDP is a nonprofit, but Advisory Services is CDP's fee-based consulting practice. We work with funders to build their capacity to give better during disasters, and beyond. Our work includes CDP Partner Connect, curriculum and learning, planning, and general advisory.
This position works on the Advisory Services team and leads CDP Partner Connect, our disaster intelligence service for funders. Most of the work is tied to furthering the Partner Connect line: running its production cycle and leading the launch of the updated product. Some work will also support other Advisory Services projects, with room to lead new work. And, like the entire Advisory Services team, some time is reserved to support organizational initiatives and represent CDP externally. The Manager reports to the Director of Advisory Services and works closely with CDP's program, grants and resource development teams.
As a fully remote workforce, CDP prioritizes employee engagement and relationship building in service of a collaborative culture rooted in equity. To this end, travel is anticipated throughout the year in different regions of the U.S. This role will be expected to attend client meetings on-site periodically, 2-3 conferences per year, and 2-3 staff retreats per year. As a disaster-related position, the Manager of Advisory Services may also have to work remotely in coordination with others on occasional evenings and weekends when a major disaster strikes.
What success looks like in the first year:
Launch the updated Partner Connect and move current clients onto it without a break in service.
Renew current Partner Connect clients through the transition.
Bring new clients onto Partner Connect after launch.
Scope and launch a client-facing Partner Connect portal, shaped by what clients use and need.
Primary responsibilities include:
Partner Connect (~ 70%)
Lead Partner Connect as a product: its roadmap, delivery model, templates and timelines.
Finish the Partner Connect enhancement work and lead the launch.
Lead Partner Connect client relationships. Run regular client briefings on active disasters and recovery. Bring in other CDP teams so clients get the full range of our expertise in one place.
Tell the Partner Connect story. Show clients and prospects what expert judgment adds that a search engine or AI tool cannot.
Run the production cycle. Monitor disasters, gather on-the-ground information from partners and prepare vetted nonprofit recommendations. Deliver quarterly impact reports.
Move fast when a disaster strikes. Turn what we learn into clear guidance for clients.
Get work done through teams they do not manage.
Apply the verification standard to every client deliverable.
Coordinate and manage production with CDP's grants, education, research, and program teams.
Build the tools and processes that let Partner Connect scale without losing the CDP touch, including a client-facing portal.
Grow the client base. Support outreach, proposals, scopes of work, pricing and renewals.
Track engagement and document the value each client receives.
Broader Advisory Services (~ 20%)
Support existing and manage new Advisory Services projects, including curriculum and learning and planning engagements.
Contribute and lead to client-facing webinars, business development meetings, and one-off expert consultations.
Develop and lead new Advisory Services offerings in coordination with the Advisory Services team.
Organizational collaboration (~ 10%)
Connect clients with CDP's grants, education and convening offerings.
Support internal organizational initiatives and strategy development, as needed such as serve on committees, panels and task forces at CDP as appropriate and as available.
Represent CDP in external events as needed, including webinars, conferences, collaboratives, among others.
Remain knowledgeable about the priorities of the organization and the strategy & innovation team, the strategic plan, and the field of disaster philanthropy.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across the organization.
Perform other duties and job-related tasks that may be assigned.
This position reports to the Advisory Services Director but works in service of the whole organization.
