Job Description:
This role supports and maintains an automated Goods-to-Person (GTP) robotic material handling system in a fast-paced operational environment. The system includes autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), robotic workstations, charging equipment, conveyors, sensors, scanners, storage systems, and related controls.
The successful candidate will utilize mechanical aptitude, basic electrical knowledge, and troubleshooting skills to inspect, maintain, repair, and support automated equipment while ensuring safe and reliable operation. This position requires working around automated machinery, using diagnostic software, responding to equipment issues in real time, and performing scheduled preventive maintenance. The role also requires flexibility to work varying shifts, weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair automated material handling equipment, including AMRs, robotic workstations, conveyors, sensors, scanners, charging systems, and associated controls.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation-related issues using schematics, diagnostics, fault codes, and maintenance procedures.
Respond to equipment failures, robot faults, communication errors, sensor issues, jams, and other operational disruptions to minimize downtime.
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, cleaning, adjustments, and component replacements in accordance with company standards and manufacturer recommendations.
Support robot charging infrastructure and assist with recovery or removal of disabled equipment from active operating areas.
Identify recurring equipment failures and recommend corrective or preventive maintenance actions.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts usage in CMMS and other required systems.
Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, technical support teams, and equipment vendors to resolve complex issues.
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout, PPE requirements, and safe interaction with automated equipment.
Requirements:
Mechanical aptitude with basic electrical and automation knowledge.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, equipment drawings, and technical documentation.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, meters, and basic diagnostic equipment.
Basic computer proficiency, including use of diagnostic software and electronic work order systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution or industrial environment.
Availability for weekend maintenance coverage, overtime, and additional hours as needed.
Must reside within the geographic area of the position.
Must be flexible to work various shifts on a 4-day/10hours: M,Tu,F,Sa 1st Shift/Mon-Thurs 1st Shift/ M,T,Sa,Su 2nd Shift/ Tu-F 2nd Shift
Preferred Qualifications
Experience maintaining automated material handling systems, robotics, conveyors, manufacturing equipment, or warehouse automation.
Experience with Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), or Goods-to-Person systems.
Experience troubleshooting sensors, motors, batteries, chargers, scanners, and automated equipment.
Experience using a CMMS for maintenance planning and documentation.
Technical education, military technical experience, or coursework in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, robotics, electrical systems, or automation.
Physical Requirements
Regular standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, lifting, and working around moving automated equipment.
Ability to safely perform work while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Comfortable working in a physically demanding and fast-paced operational environment.Â
