We are looking for a  Â
Â
Maintenance Design Engineer, MechanicsÂ
Â
to keep Normet’s underground mining and tunnelling equipment at its best. Our machines work in some of the most demanding conditions on earth, and you will make sure they keep getting better throughout the product lifecycle. In this role you will modify and design parts and sub-assemblies of our machines in 3D, solve real-life challenges together with production, design equipment installations in our platform team projects and see your designs turn into real machines. You will collaborate daily with Production, Quality, Documentation and our Mechanical, Hydraulic, Automation and Electrical engineering teams, reporting to the Team Lead, Item Data Management & Engineering Process Development. The role is based in Iisalmi, Finland, with the possibility of hybrid work. The work includes occasional evening shifts in production support.Â
Â
Main responsibilities and tasks: Â
- Solving acute issues hands-on together with Production and Quality when needed.Â
- Bringing improvements to life by modifying and designing parts and sub-assemblies of Normet equipment in 3D using Autodesk Inventor.Â
- Producing and updating structural drawings, work instructions and parts lists and owning their quality.Â
- Making or commissioning the necessary strength calculations and producing exploded views and illustrations for equipment documentation.Â
- Finding smart solutions that meet requirements and enable cost-efficient manufacturing – agreeing on them with other designers, your manager, Sourcing and Production, and delivering them on schedule.Â
- Gathering component information from the PLM system, Sourcing and suppliers, and turning approved internal and external feedback into improved drawings and parts lists.Â
- Designing equipment installations in Platform team projects, where you get to influence how our machines are built.Â
Â
To succeed in this position, we require:  Â
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (University of Applied Sciences or University) in mechanical engineering or a comparable field, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained otherwise.Â
- Working experience of at least 2 years in the engineering field, preferably in 3D design of mechanical structures or another relevant area. Recent graduates with relevant trainee experience are also warmly welcome to apply.Â
- Ability to work independently according to agreed procedures, and good interaction skills with internal teams as well as component suppliers, equipment manufacturers and subcontractors.Â
- A solution-oriented, hands-on attitude. You enjoy working close to production and seeing your designs built.Â
- Fluent written and spoken Finnish and good English skills.Â
Â
To shine in this position, we hope you have:  Â
- Experience of design, PLM and ERP tools, e.g. Autodesk Inventor, Vault, Sovelia CORE and Microsoft Dynamics 365, or the motivation to learn them quickly.Â
- Knowledge of product change management processes.Â
- Simulation and calculation skills, e.g. strength calculations.Â
- Knowledge of Normet machines or the engineering workshop industry, and an understanding of the conditions in mining and tunnel construction.Â
 Â
As an employer, we support your well-being with benefits such as: Â
ePassi for lunch and Flex benefits (sports, wellness, and culture), occupational health care and specialist-level treatment through our work ability insurance, access to Auntie’s mental well-being services and more. Â
