Mainframe NATURAL / ADABAS Developer

Location: Canada – Remote
Duration : 6 Months

Required Skills – Maximum 6

1. NATURAL Programming: Strong hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications usingNATURAL.
2. ADABAS: Extensive experience withADABAS database, including application development, data access, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
3. Mainframe Technologies: Solid experience working inmainframe environments with a good understanding of mainframe architecture and application operations.
4. Application Maintenance & Production Support: Proven experience supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing mainframe applications and handling day-to-day production operations.
5. DB2 / COBOL: Working knowledge ofDB2 and preferablyCOBOL in a mainframe environment.
6. Analysis & Stakeholder Communication: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Nice-to-Have Skills – Maximum 3

1. COBOL development experience in addition to NATURAL/ADABAS.
2. Experience supportinghealthcare industry mainframe applications.
3. Strong experience withproduction support, incident troubleshooting, and application modernization/enhancement in legacy mainframe environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, enhance, and troubleshootNATURAL applications running in a mainframe environment.
• Design and support applications usingADABAS, including database queries, data access, updates, and troubleshooting.
• Performproduction support and day-to-day operational activities, including incident investigation and issue resolution.
• Analyze existing legacy applications and implementenhancements, fixes, and change requests based on business requirements.
• Translatebusiness requirements into technical specifications and solutions.
• Troubleshoot application and database issues acrossNATURAL, ADABAS, and DB2 environments.
• Performimpact analysis, coding, unit testing, debugging, and deployment support for application changes.
• Collaborate with business analysts, application teams, database teams, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders.
• Supportproduction releases, maintenance activities, and post-deployment validation.
• Document technical solutions, application changes, procedures, and operational processes.
• Monitor application performance and proactively identify and resolve recurring production issues.
• Participate inroot-cause analysis and recommend solutions to improve application stability.
• Follow establishedmainframe development, testing, change-management, and production-support processes.
• Support knowledge transfer and maintain documentation for legacyNATURAL/ADABAS applications.
