Job Title: Mail and Package Handler
Location: New York, NY (Onsite)
Duration: 3+Month Contract (temp to perm)
6-day work week (4 hours MON, 8 hours TUES, 8 hours WED/THURS/FRI, 4 hours SAT)

Support operations across four student mail rooms located within a 10-minute walk of each other.

Receive, sort, scan, and distribute student mail and packages.
-
Work schedule: 6-day work week β 4 hours Monday, 8 hours Tuesday through Friday, and 4 hours Saturday.

Report to the Site Manager, Site Supervisor, or Assistant Site Manager based on site configuration.

Work in an office/mailroom environment with normal lighting, ventilation, temperature, and noise levels.
Responsibilities
-
Operate high-volume copy machines, duplicating equipment, document scanners, mail processing equipment, and related image-handling software.

Run high-volume copying, scanning, binding, finishing, and document processing jobs.

Operate MS Office, email systems, fax machines, calculators, postage meters, and other PC-based equipment.

Receive and sort incoming student mail and place it into student mailboxes once daily.
-
Receive packages from USPS, FedEx, clients, Amazon, and other carriers.
-
Scan packages in and out, maintain package records, and hold packages until student pickup.
-
Ship and receive products, supplies, and other materials.
-
Sort, distribute, and handle incoming and outgoing mail and faxes and apply required postage.

Distribute office supplies, mail, and fax transmissions to personnel or designated locations.

Maintain records, management reports, billing logs, inventories, daily meter logs, and service logs.

Calculate charges for completed jobs and maintain applicable billing information.

Respond to and coordinate customer service calls.
-
Answer customer questions regarding job requests, status, and feasibility.

Deliver completed jobs to designated customer locations within and outside the site.

Maintain convenience copier areas by keeping equipment clean, neat, functional, and stocked.

Inspect convenience copiers daily, check quality, clear paper jams, and report equipment problems to technicians.

Provide copier maintenance support and/or repair coordination for customer-site equipment.

Perform filing duties, including purging and archiving old documents as required.

Perform shipping, receiving, mailroom, file services, bindery, quality control/final checks, housekeeping, call center, and other entry-level operational duties as assigned.

Use shrink-wrap machines, paper cutters, hole drills, bindery equipment, joggers, tape machines, stackers, electric staplers, scales, and other equipment to complete assigned jobs.

May travel between customer buildings as needed.

Maintain organized and properly stocked work areas.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
-
Some related copy, mailroom, document services, or operations experience preferred.

Basic computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite and email.

Experience scanning packages in and out and maintaining electronic records.

Ability to send professional emails and communicate effectively with customers.
-
Technical aptitude with printers, copiers, scanners, postage machines, and other office equipment.
-
Good customer service and organizational skills.
-
Ability to interpret, comprehend, and apply complex material, data, and instructions.

Ability to prepare, provide, and communicate varied information.
-
Ability to perform diversified work assignments and manage multiple job requests.
-
Ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50β55 lbs. and push or pull equipment on wheels when necessary.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, stretch, climb, and perform other physical activities for extended periods.
-
Ability to walk between nearby buildings as required.

Must be available to work Saturdays.

Business casual dress code; collared shirt recommended and no jeans.
