The Process Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of process engineering activities related to water treatment systems within greenfield industrial projects.

The role supports all project phases (FEL 1, FEL 2, FEED, and EPC), ensuring that water and wastewater systems are properly defined, designed, and integrated into the overall process.

The Process Engineer contributes to delivering technically robust and cost-effective solutions, focusing on water balance, treatment technologies, and compliance with environmental and process requirements. The role requires strong coordination with multidisciplinary teams and active participation in both design and execution phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of process design for water and wastewater systems across all project phases (FEL, FEED, EPC).
  • Identify raw water requirements and characterize process effluents in coordination with process teams and clients.
  • Select and evaluate appropriate water treatment technologies to meet process and discharge requirements.
  • Develop and validate water balances, process schemes, and system configurations.
  • Perform process calculations and simulations to support equipment selection and system design.
  • Size key equipment such as storage tanks, treatment units, and utility systems.
  • Prepare and review process deliverables including PFDs, P&IDs, process design specifications (PDS), and technical reports.
  • Support the evaluation of water reuse and recycling strategies to optimize water consumption.
  • Ensure alignment between process design, environmental regulations, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, automation) and external partners.
  • Support procurement activities through preparation of technical specifications and review of vendor documentation.
  • Contribute to commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting activities when required.

Typical Activities

  • Preparation of process documentation (BFD, PFD, P&ID, process notes).
  • Development of water balances and treatment concepts for industrial facilities.
  • Equipment sizing and process calculations.
  • Process simulation and performance validation.
  • Evaluation of treatment technologies (filtration, biological, chemical treatment, reuse systems).
  • Participation in technical meetings with clients, partners, and suppliers.
  • Support to tender preparation (technical scope definition, cost inputs, technical clarifications).
  • Contribution to design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Occasional support to site activities, commissioning, and performance troubleshooting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in water treatment process engineering within industrial projects.
  • Experience in FEED and/or EPC project environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment technologies.
  • Experience in preparation of process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, technical reports).
  • Familiarity with process simulation tools and engineering calculations.
  • Experience working with international standards and environmental regulations is an advantage.
  • Exposure to project execution, commissioning, or site activities is a plus.

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Structured and detail-oriented approach
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary and international teams
  • Good communication and coordination skills
  • Proactive mindset with focus on practical solutions and delivery
