Mō mātou | About Hōhepa

Working at Hōhepa, is different from the average, you become part of our community of people, staff, volunteers, and contractors who all have a common goal - helping people to reach their full potential and lead enriched and meaningful lives in a holistic, supportive environment. We are a community leader providing services and support for people living with an intellectual disability to live their best lives and find a valued place in our society. Inspired by Dr Rudolf Steiner’s principles of anthroposophy, we seek to understand each person and situation as unique, not a one size fits all philosophy.

Mō te tūranga | About the Role

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity combining dedicated one-on-one support with a person we support at Lamb and Marker Service, alongside working as a Permanent Reliever across a range of Hōhepa services.

Each fortnight, your roster will be populated with 19 guaranteed hours of hands-on support across various services. The specific hours and shifts will vary each fortnight and may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and sleepovers, providing a dynamic and rewarding work experience.

1:1 Support Service Role

Bob's service is based within a shared home environment at Lamb and Marker Service which is based at our main campus. You will provide one-to-one support to Bob who lives alongside flatmates and is supported by a wider team of staff.

We are looking for someone who is patient, reliable, proactive, and able to build a positive relationship with Bob. You will encourage his independence, recognise opportunities for engagement, and motivate him to participate in activities that are important to him. Most importantly, you will have a genuine desire to support Bob to live a fulfilling life while respecting his preferences, choices, and goals.

Permanent Reliever Role

As a Permanent Reliever, you will provide support across a range of Hōhepa services, covering both planned and unplanned leave. You will work a fixed roster pattern with consistent days off and 80 guaranteed hours per fortnight, including your dedicated hours supporting Bob.

In this role, you will support people with their daily routines while encouraging independence and personal growth. This includes assisting with personal care, cooking, medication administration, household tasks, and supporting people to engage in their communities.

You will need to be adaptable, empathetic, and confident in reading situations, problem-solving, setting appropriate boundaries, and knowing when to provide support or space as required.

Permanent Relievers also receive a $500 pro rata bonus every six months.
