Position: M/E Engineer 3 – Electrical
Location: Kansas City, Missouri (Job Site: DeSoto, Kansas)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Work Model: Onsite (Full-time at project job site)
TheM/E Engineer 3 – Electrical is responsible for performing increasingly complexmechanical and electrical engineering and field construction activities on assigned projects. This role involves collecting and assembling technical data, developing cost estimates, conducting systems and bid analysis, and supporting construction activities from preconstruction through commissioning.
The engineer will collaborate with project teams to ensure projects meetquality, safety, scheduling, and performance expectations while supporting engineering and construction coordination.
This role also contributes toconstructability reviews, commissioning, scheduling coordination, and quality control, ensuring mechanical and electrical systems are implemented effectively and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Preconstruction

  • Developbudgetary mechanical and electrical estimates based on schematic and program design information.
  • Reviewmechanical and electrical system options and recommend optimal system solutions.
  • Performsystems analysis and value engineering to improve project efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Assist in preparingmechanical and electrical scopes of work for subcontractor bidding.
  • Participate inbid evaluation and subcontractor selection processes.

Construction Support

  • Coordinate mechanical and electrical activities during construction phases.
  • Developsystem sequencing and scheduling strategies to support project timelines.
  • Conductjob site inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
  • Reviewshop drawings and submittals before submission to the design team.
  • Identify potentialconstructability and quality issues within design documents.

Commissioning & Quality Control

  • Developpre-functional checklists and functional testing procedures.
  • Support commissioning activities and verify contractor performance during functional testing.
  • Generatecommissioning plans and documentation for project stakeholders.
  • Track and verify correction of deficiencies before final system approval.

Process Improvement & Team Collaboration

  • Develop innovative tools and methods to improveengineering workflows and construction processes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to achieve project success.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Architectural Engineering
    • Related Engineering Discipline
(Equivalent experience may be considered in place of formal education.)

Experience

  • 5+ years of construction and/or engineering experience
  • Experience supportingmechanical/electrical systems within construction projects

Required Skills

  • Ability tointerpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications
  • Knowledge ofconstruction management methods and project delivery processes
  • Experience supportingpreconstruction and commissioning activities
  • Strongproblem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Effectivecommunication and teamwork skills
  • Proficiency withMicrosoft Office tools

Additional Requirements

  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license required
  • Ability to workfull-time onsite at the project site in DeSoto, Kansas
  • Willingness totravel occasionally as needed
