Head of Camp Program, Basketball

Position Summary: The Head of Camp, Basketball is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, program quality, and continued growth of IMG Academy’s Basketball camp programs, clinics, showcases, and related events. This role oversees all aspects of camp delivery including curriculum development, staffing, scheduling, student-athlete experience, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Lead the overall planning, organization, execution, and evaluation of Basketball camp programs, clinics, showcases, tournaments, and special events 
• Oversee daily camp operations including staffing, scheduling, facility coordination, group assignments, safety procedures, and student-athlete supervision 
• Ensure all camp programs are delivered with a high level of quality, professionalism, operational efficiency, and customer service 
• Collaborate with Basketball leadership to develop and enhance camp curriculum, instructional models, and programming to align with IMG Academy standards and industry best practices 
• Build scalable camp structures and operational systems to support program growth and increased enrollment 
• Establish and maintain staffing plans and coach-to-camper ratios to ensure safe, effective, and engaging program delivery 
• Coordinate camp schedules including court assignments, training sessions, games, competitions, meals, transportation, and special events 
• Assign campers into appropriate training groups based on age, skill level, experience, and developmental needs 
• Ensure proper facility setup, equipment management, cleanliness, and operational readiness throughout all camp sessions 
• Monitor camp operations to ensure compliance with all safety standards, company policies, and governing body regulations 
• Create a positive, energetic, and development-focused environment that promotes learning, confidence, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship 
• Serve as a mentor, educator, and leader for camp participants by fostering strong relationships and positive experiences on the court 
• Develop and implement motivational and engaging approaches to practices, competitions, and instructional sessions 
• Deliver or oversee high-level basketball instruction including skill development, gameplay concepts, position work, and performance training 
• Ensure campers receive individualized attention, constructive feedback, and a memorable developmental experience 
• Conduct weekly camp orientations and provide introductions to IMG Academy, including the features and benefits of its athletic, academic, and boarding programs 
• Maintain strong communication with campers and parents/guardians regarding schedules, expectations, development opportunities, and overall camp experience 
• Support the identification and retention of prospective full-time student-athletes through positive engagement and relationship building 
• Recruit, train, supervise, mentor, and evaluate camp coaches, interns, and support staff 
• Foster a collaborative, professional, and accountable working environment among camp staff 
• Work closely with Basketball leadership to support staffing needs, operational planning, and strategic growth initiatives 
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Communications, and PR teams to promote Basketball camps, increase visibility, and support enrollment growth 
• Partner with Admissions and Outreach teams to support prospective family engagement and recruiting opportunities 
• Assist with special events, community outreach initiatives, and Basketball department programming throughout the year 
• Manage time effectively while balancing operational demands, staffing needs, and program priorities 
• Track camp attendance, staffing schedules, operational needs, and program performance metrics 
• Assist with budget oversight, operational planning, and resource allocation for camp programs 
• Ensure proper communication and coordination across departments including facilities, accommodations, sports medicine, transportation, and dining services 
• Adhere to all IMG Academy policies, procedures, business ethics standards, and safety guidelines 
• Other duties as assigned  

Qualifications: 

• Extensive knowledge of youth basketball development, training methodologies, and emerging trends within the sport 
• Experience coaching and/or playing basketball at the collegiate, professional, academy, or elite youth level 
• Strong understanding of basketball instruction, player development systems, and camp operations 
• Excellent leadership, management, communication, and supervisory skills 
• Strong organizational and operational planning abilities with attention to detail 
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced athletic environment 
• Strong commitment to student-athlete development, mentorship, and customer experience 
• Ability to build positive relationships with campers, parents/guardians, coaches, and staff 
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and operational scheduling tools 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Desire to work collaboratively across departments and contribute to overall program growth 

Preferred Skills: 

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business or sport-related major 
• Management experience to include coaching 
• Bilingual 

Physical Demands and Work Environment: 

• Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40 pounds 
• Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time 
• Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc. 
• Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
