Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Outpatient Clinic

What You'll Do


As a Clinic LPN, you'll work alongside providers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care, coordinate clinical services, and help create a positive experience for every patient.


Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Obtain and document vital signs, recognize abnormal findings, and communicate concerns to the appropriate healthcare provider.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
  • Assist with and perform routine clinical procedures within your scope of practice and demonstrated competencies.
  • Administer prescribed medications and vaccinations in accordance with provider orders, department policies, and applicable scope of practice.
  • Perform routine nursing procedures, including simple dressing changes.
  • Collect, prepare, and secure specimens for point-of-care testing or laboratory transport.
  • Perform point-of-care testing according to established guidelines.
  • Recognize changes in patient conditions and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations.
  • Identify and report suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with organizational policies.
  • Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care while addressing patients' comfort and individual needs.

Care Coordination & Clinic Operations

  • Support a smooth and efficient patient experience from arrival through departure.
  • Assist with scheduling new and follow-up appointments.
  • Collaborate with providers and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.
  • Gather appropriate clinical documentation and medical records for provider review.
  • Obtain outside medical records and ensure information is incorporated into the electronic medical record.
  • Prepare, clean, disinfect, and maintain clinical equipment according to safety and infection prevention standards.
  • Assist with daily clinic operations to maintain efficient patient flow.

Medication Management & Patient Safety

  • Maintain medication and vaccine inventory, including proper storage and disposal of expired medications.
  • Monitor medication refrigerator and freezer temperatures to ensure appropriate storage conditions.
  • Follow established medication safety protocols, including proper handling of multi-dose vials.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
  • Follow infection prevention practices, including standard and transmission-based precautions.
  • Identify and report safety concerns or environmental hazards.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) projects and Environment of Care (EOC) rounds.

Documentation & Communication

  • Accurately document patient care, clinical tasks, medications, testing, and procedures in the electronic medical record.
  • Complete required clinical documentation, including point-of-care testing quality control records.
  • Navigate the EMR to access laboratory results, radiology reports, medical records, and patient information.
  • Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Communicate patient-care concerns, clinic activities, and operational needs to appropriate providers and leadership.
  • Assist with telephone communication and route patient inquiries to the appropriate team member.
  • Prepare safety reports when necessary or as directed by clinic leadership.

What We're Looking For


Minimum Qualifications

  • Current, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license to practice in Louisiana.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Ability to provide safe, effective nursing care within the LPN scope of practice.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and excellent patient experiences.

Physical & Functional Requirements

  • Medium physical work, including standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, and assisting with patient-care activities.
  • Frequent use of clinical equipment, computers, and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to perform essential clinical responsibilities in accordance with departmental physical requirements.

Occupational Exposure

  • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, airborne communicable diseases, and other common healthcare environmental risks.
  • Adherence to all applicable safety and infection prevention standards is required.
