What You'll Do
As aClinic LPN or RN, you'll work closely with providers and other members of the healthcare team to deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care, coordinate clinical services, support daily clinic operations, and ensure a positive experience for patients throughout their visit.
Responsibilities will be performed in accordance with your nursing license, applicable scope of practice, organizational policies, and demonstrated competencies.
Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Obtain and record vital signs, identify abnormal findings, and communicate concerns to the appropriate provider or nursing team member.
- Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Assist with and perform clinical procedures within your authorized scope of practice.
- Administer prescribed medications and vaccinations via approved routes, as permitted by licensure and organizational policy.
- Perform routine nursing procedures, including simple dressing changes and other appropriate clinical interventions.
- Collect, prepare, and secure specimens for point-of-care testing or laboratory transport.
- Perform point-of-care testing when applicable.
- Monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, and promptly communicate concerns or respond to urgent and emergency situations.
- Provide compassionate, age-appropriate care while addressing patients' comfort and individual needs.
- Participate in patient assessments, care planning, and nursing interventions as appropriate to licensure and scope of practice.
Care Coordination & Clinic Flow
- Support a smooth and efficient patient experience from arrival through departure.
- Assist with scheduling new and follow-up appointments.
- Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to promote continuity of care.
- Gather clinical documentation and medical records for provider review.
- Obtain outside medical records and ensure appropriate information is incorporated into the electronic medical record.
- Reinforce patient education and instructions as appropriate to scope of practice.
- Support daily clinic operations and help maintain efficient patient flow.
Medication & Safety Management
- Assist with maintaining medication and vaccine inventory.
- Monitor medication storage conditions and refrigerator/freezer temperature logs.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of expired medications.
- Follow infection prevention, environmental, and patient safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) projects and Environment of Care (EOC) rounds.
- Adhere to established clinical protocols and organizational policies.
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately document nursing care, clinical tasks, medication administration, testing, and procedures in the patient's electronic medical record.
- Navigate the EMR to access laboratory results, radiology results, and medical records.
- Maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Communicate patient-care concerns, clinical updates, and operational needs to appropriate providers and leadership.
- Assist with telephone communication, patient inquiries, and routing calls to the appropriate team member.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure timely and accurate communication.
What We're Looking For
Minimum Qualifications
- Current, valid Louisiana Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) license, or appropriate temporary permit to practice.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
- Ability to provide safe, effective nursing care within the applicable scope of practice.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
