R&D Rubber Materials Chemist/Engineer

Prysmian Group is seeking ahands-on innovator and change champion with deep expertise inrubber and polymer materials to join our Product Development team. Reporting to theProduct Development Manager, you will play a critical role in advancing our materials technology, formulation development and supporting thegrowth of high-performance cable solutions.

In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams and customers tounderstand application needs and engineer advanced rubber compounds that drive product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

What You’ll Do

As a Rubber Materials Chemist, you will ownend-to-end development of elastomer-based solutions, from concept through commercialization:

• Design, develop, and optimizerubber and elastomeric compounds for advanced applications

• Conductapplied research and formulation work to improve material properties such as flexibility, durability, thermal resistance, and electrical performance

• Leadnew product development (NPD) initiatives, including requirement gathering, testing, validation, and commercialization

• Modify and enhance existingrubber formulations to improve product functionality, cost-efficiency, and performance

• Plan and executelaboratory experiments, pilot trials, and production-scale validations

• Analyze mechanical, thermal, and electrical test data todrive material improvements and innovation

• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams tosuccessfully launch new products

• Supportnew product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement initiatives across business segments

• Develop detailedtechnical documentation, formulations, and specifications for manufacturing scale-up

• Stay at the forefront of advancements inrubber compounding, elastomer chemistry, and materials science

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree inChemical Engineering, Polymer/Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field

• 3+ years of experience inrubber compounding, elastomer development, or materials engineering

• Strong understanding ofrubber formulation, additives, fillers, curing systems, and processing

• Experience working incross-functional teams in a manufacturing or product development environment

• Passion for developinghigh-performance, cost-effective materials that drive business success

Preferred Qualifications

• 3–7 years of hands-on experience inrubber or polymer product development

• Experience supportinglab, pilot, and production trials in an industrial setting

• Knowledge of applications such ascable insulation, jacketing, or industrial elastomers

• Familiarity withmaterial testing methods (mechanical, rheological, thermal, electrical)

Work Environment

• Combination oflab, pilot, and office environments

• Hands-on work with compounding equipment and testing instruments

• Ability to lift10–25 lbs regularly and up to30 lbs occasionally

• Fast-paced, collaborative environment requiring adaptability and problem-solving

• Occasional travel as required
