Contract Details
Contract Length: 3 months
Compensation: $90/hour
Location: Remote (U.S. only); candidates must reside in the Pacific Time Zone
Schedule: Full-time, typically 1:00 PM–10:00 PM Pacific Time
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Linux & Server Migration Engineer to support a three-
month migration initiative focused on moving Linux-hosted applications and MySQL
databases from legacy infrastructure to AWS. This is a hands-on infrastructure role
centered on Linux systems engineering, AWS administration, server provisioning, database
migration, and production cutovers. Docker, Kubernetes, containers, and Amazon EKS
experience are not required.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute server, application, and database migrations across legacy and AWS
environments.
Provision, configure, secure, and validate Linux application and database servers in
AWS.
Administer MySQL databases, including backups, replication, permissions, connectivity,
performance, and data validation.
Perform production cutovers, DNS and configuration updates, post-migration
validation, and rollback activities.
Troubleshoot Linux operating systems, networking, storage, security groups, access,
and application-hosting issues.
Develop migration runbooks and automate provisioning and validation using Bash,
Ansible, or similar tools.
Required Qualifications
Strong hands-on Linux systems engineering and server administration experience.
Practical AWS experience supporting EC2, IAM, storage, networking, and security
groups.
Production MySQL administration and database migration experience.
Experience migrating applications and services with minimal production disruption.
Experience with backups, monitoring, patching, performance tuning, and security
hardening.
Ability to work the required Pacific Time schedule.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Tomcat and Linux-hosted Java applications.
Experience using Bash, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
Experience migrating workloads from legacy or on-premises environments into AWS.
Strong documentation, communication, and incident management skills.

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) contract position and is not eligible for company
