Must-Have 1. System Administration
• Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE, etc.).
• Manage system boot processes, kernel parameters, and package updates.
• Perform server hardening and apply security patches regularly.
2. Server Monitoring & Maintenance
• Monitor system performance using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK.
• Conduct proactive performance tuning and ensure system uptime.
• Troubleshoot system errors, crashes, and performance bottlenecks.
3. User & Access Management
• Manage user accounts, groups, roles, and permissions.
• Configure Sudo policies and enforce security guidelines.
4. Storage & File System Management
• Configure LVM, RAID, NFS, iSCSI, and SAN/NAS storage.
• Manage file systems (ext4, XFS, Btrfs) and handle backups/restore tasks.
5. Networking
• Configure network interfaces, routing, VLANs, firewalls, and DNS.
• Troubleshoot network issues at OS-level (TCP/IP, SSH, FTP, FirewallD, iptables).
6. Security & Compliance
• Conduct regular security audits and implement Linux security best practices.
• Configure SELinux/AppArmor and encryption standards.
• Manage OS-level vulnerability remediation.
7. Automation & Scripting
• Automate routine tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible, or Shell scripts.
• Manage configuration automation and Infrastructure-as-Code where applicable.
8. Virtualization & Cloud
• Manage virtualization platforms like VMware, KVM, Proxmox, or Hyper-V.
• Manage container environments (Docker, Kubernetes) if required.
9. Backup & Recovery
• Configure and maintain backup solutions (Veeam, NetBackup, rsync, etc.).
• Perform restore testing and disaster recovery operations.
10. Documentation & Collaboration
• Maintain detailed system documentation, inventories, and SOPs.
• Coordinate with application, network, and security teams for smooth operations.
• Good-to-Have • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 4-6 years of hands on experience as a Linux System Administrator.
• Strong knowledge of RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu/SUSE environments.
• Experience with system monitoring and log analysis tools.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking and Linux security.
• Proficiency in shell scripting and automation.
• Knowledge of virtualization, cloud platforms, and containerization is a plus.
