Position Overview

IMPORTANT: Please note that this is a part-time position, with a schedule of Mondays and Fridays only.

TheLife Skills Coach is responsible for thedirect supervision, training, and care of individuals incommunity and program settings. This role involves implementingIndividual Support Plans (ISPs), supporting participants in developing essential life and work skills, and collaborating with families and interdisciplinary teams to foster independence and personal growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

Program Duties

  • Act as arole model, demonstratingprofessionalism, safe practices, and a positive work attitude.
  • Support individuals inwork skills, personal care, socialization, behavioral skills, self-advocacy, and daily routines.
  • Facilitategroup and individualized learning activities in both community and program settings.
  • Implementteaching strategies to promote independence and achieveISP goals.
  • Provide feedback on individuals'strengths, challenges, and interests to theSr. Life Skills Coach and Program Director.
  • Assist in developingdynamic and engaging schedules tailored to individuals' needs.
  • Ensurecommunity safety, provideindividual oversight, and operatecompany vehicles, including passenger vans, in compliance withCharles River policies and state laws.
  • Conductneeds assessments and assist inperson-centered planning and goal-setting.
  • Supportindividual and group employment activities, encouragingcommunity integration and relationships.
  • Maintainclean, organized, and safe environments in theprogram, community settings, and vehicles.
  • Monitor individuals duringlunch, breaks, and transportation, ensuring safety and well-being.

Behavioral & Crisis Support

  • ImplementPositive Behavior Support (PBS) strategies as guided by theProgram and Clinical Directors.
  • Assist incrisis interventions, including behavior management and emergency restraint interventions.
  • Accurately and promptlydocument incident reports and related paperwork.
  • Consistently upholdHuman Rights Policies to ensuredignity and respect for all individuals.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all required documentation, including:
    • Attendance records, fire drill reports, ISP data sheets, behavior plan documentation, and safety logs.
    • Utilizeagency software programs (Paycom and Icentrix) fortime tracking and record-keeping.
  • Maintain compliance withcompany policies and procedures.

Qualifications

 

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience inHuman Services preferred.
  • Successful completion of allstate and agency-mandated training courses.
  • Knowledge ofNormalization and Community Inclusion principles.
  • Must pass aCriminal History Background Check (CORI), DPPC, DDS, and other screenings.
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license andreliable personal transportation.
  • Proficiency inMicrosoft applications and agency software programs.

Language Skills

  • Fluent inEnglish, with the ability toread, interpret, and write reports.
  • Effective communication inindividual and group settings with participants, families, and team members.

Physical Demands

  • Must haveendurance and physical ability to perform job duties.
  • Regularly required tosit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
  • Frequently required touse hands and fingers to handle materials and tools.
  • Must be able tolift up to 30 lbs from floor to waist and10-15 lbs from waist to overhead.
  • Must be able tomaneuver up to 100 lbs (assistance provided when possible).
