Teaching faculty at Owens Community Collegeare responsible for supporting student success by creatingan optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employabilityskills,demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, andmaintaining competency in their instructional field.The applicant will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college. This position requires teaching undergraduates, and applicants mustprovide evidence of teaching potential specifically in the discipline of Diesel Technology.Â
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Â
This position requires classroom and lab instruction in the discipline. The instructor must be knowledgeable in diesel technologyin regards to engine repair, automatic transmission/transaxle, manual drive train & axles, suspension & steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, heating & air conditioning, and engine performance; and mustprovide quality instruction. The instructor must have a demonstrated knowledge of and integration of appropriate practices of teaching different learning styles.Â
The position requires the individual to have strong skills in the following:Â

4. Computer operations.ÂThis position requires the individual to have the ability to:
1. Integrate a variety of methodologies in order to facilitate student learning.Â
2. Understanding the needs of community college students.Â
3. Manage a classroom, including organizing and presenting material, designing lessons and activities that willfacilitate student learning, and monitoring student behavior and performance.Â
4. Follow instructions and meet deadlines.Â
5. Recognize students’ strengths and weaknesses in the discipline and to provide feedback to students in such a way as to facilitate their learning.Â
6. Evaluate student work fairly using department guidelines.Â

Prepare and deliver course materials in accordanceto the course syllabiÂ
Maintain organized records of student’s activities and gradesÂ
Advise department Chair of materials needed prior to classÂ

Minimum Education/Experience:Â
Up to one year of specialized or technical training beyond high schoolÂ
Must meet one of the following:Â
A.Industry Certification by ASE or Manufacturer in similar discipline.Â
B. Baccalaureate degree and 2years experience in discipline of instruction.Â
C.Associates degree and 4years experience in discipline of instruction.Â
D. 6years experience in discipline of instruction.Â
