About the Role

As a Fixed Plant Reliability Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the Willowdale Mining team, providing technical expertise and support to optimise equipment performance and reliability. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders across all stages of asset lifecycle, from conception to decommissioning. 

Reporting to the Senior Reliability Engineer, this position offers a Monday to Friday work schedule at our Willowdale Mining operations. Alcoa prioritizes work-life balance and provides flexible working arrangements. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Provide technical guidance and problem-solving solutions to the Willowdale Fixed Plant team. 

• Enhance equipment reliability through Alcoa’s Reliability Excellence (REX) processes, data analysis, root cause analysis, and implementation of best practices. 

• Downtime analysis and defect elimination across the Willowdale site. 

• Conduct reliability studies to improve reliability, asset health, production, cost-efficiency, and safety. 

• Create and review equipment management strategies and spares strategies to support asset heath across the Willowdale fixed plant system. 

• Support capital and maintenance projects for the system, including conveyors, crushers, stackers, reclaimers, hydraulic systems, and pumping systems.

What you can bring to the role

• Degree-qualified Engineer with a strong background in reliability and asset management.
• Several years of proven experience delivering reliability improvement initiatives in heavy industrial or materials handling environments.
• Strong understanding of reliability engineering methodologies, including FMECA, defect elimination and root cause analysis.
• Experience leading plant management of change (MOC) and risk management processes.
• Technical knowledge of fixed plant equipment such as conveyors, crushers, stackers, reclaimers, hydraulic and pumping systems.
• Proficient in data analysis and reliability tools, with exposure to software such as Power BI, Availability Workbench or RealityCharting considered advantageous.

About the Location

Willowdale is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia, and is located in the Darling Scarp east of Waroona and Cookernup. It supplies bauxite ore to the Wagerup Alumina Refinery via a direct overland conveying system and helps to produce almost half of Australia’s alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s aluminium.
