About the Role

A fast-growing legal research and data company focused on US litigation data (with expansion underway into the UK and Canada) is looking for a seasoned litigator to step into a Legal Engineer role that sits at the intersection of litigation expertise, client relationships, and legal AI. This is not a practicing legal role. It is a growth, sales, and product role for someone who knows litigation inside and out and is ready to bring that knowledge to the clients, partners, and AI pipelines shaping the next generation of legal infrastructure. The team is small (around 10 people), flat, and moving fast, with ARR growing 15 to 20x this year.

The ideal candidate is a litigator with 5 or more years at a top BigLaw firm or elite litigation boutique who has appeared in court, advised clients directly, and managed legal research workflows. You do not need an engineering background. You do need genuine curiosity about legal AI, comfort owning client relationships from day one, and a strong professional network in the legal community. If you have been an early adopter of AI tools at your firm, served on a tech procurement committee, or have litigation experience in class actions, data privacy, or financial services, that is a meaningful plus.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Run product demos, pilots, and onboarding sessions with law firms, in-house legal teams, and AI companies to help them understand and adopt the company's legal data platform
  2. Own client relationships and go-to-market initiatives, including sales calls with major law firms, conference appearances, and LinkedIn content
  3. Collaborate with engineers to build and annotate evaluations for AI pipelines, such as determining case overruling status and citation accuracy
  4. Write customer-facing materials including emails, product explainers, launch content, and marketing copy
  5. Help shape how the company presents itself to the legal market by identifying compelling use cases, crafting narratives, and driving word-of-mouth in legal circles
  6. Take ownership of projects and client accounts within a flat team structure, contributing directly to product direction and GTM strategy

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5 or more years of active litigation experience at a top BigLaw firm or elite litigation boutique (non-negotiable)
  • Hands-on litigator background: court appearances, client advisory work, and supervision of legal research teams
  • Strong professional network of lawyers and legal contacts to support client outreach and GTM efforts
  • Comfort with outward-facing work including sales calls, product demos, conferences, and events
  • Familiarity with lawyer communication norms and expectations
  • Must be authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship (US citizens and green card holders only)
  • Must be able to work in person 5 days per week at the New York City office, or willing to relocate

Preferred Skills

  • Litigation experience in class actions, data privacy, or financial services
  • Experience at a legal tech or litigation technology company
  • Early adopter of legal AI tools, including testing or championing AI purchases at a prior firm, or serving on a tech procurement or innovation committee
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and legal technology, even without a formal engineering background
