UST is looking for a highly skilled Tech Lead with 10+ years of experience in Python-based backend development, microservices, and API-driven applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in FastAPI, backend integration, testing, and debugging complex product issues while collaborating closely with product, QA, and engineering teams.

Job Description

As a Tech Lead, you will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining scalable backend services and BFF (Backend-for-Frontend) layers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, reliable, and maintainable software solutions that support critical business workflows.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services using Python 3.10 and FastAPI.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
• Build and support BFF layers that enable seamless frontend integration.
• Collaborate with product managers, QA teams, and developers to deliver product enhancements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across APIs, databases, logs, deployments, and frontend interactions.
• Create and execute unit, integration, and API tests to ensure application quality.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architecture and design discussions.
• Support CI/CD processes, containerization, and deployment activities.
• Assist in root-cause analysis, issue triaging, and continuous product improvement.
• Contribute to engineering best practices, process improvements, and knowledge sharing initiatives.

Experience & Requirements:

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience in Python development, preferably Python 3.10.
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI and Uvicorn.
• Experience developing REST APIs and backend services.
• Strong understanding of data validation, error handling, dependency injection, and asynchronous programming.
• Experience building or maintaining BFF architectures.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across application layers.
• Experience designing and executing unit tests, integration tests, and API tests.
• Knowledge of service-to-service communication patterns.
• Ability to work independently with strong ownership and accountability.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in software development.
• Demonstrated experience in backend application development and API engineering.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
