The team focuses on advanced Bluetooth use cases including audio streaming, HFP calling, and LE Audio, delivering standards-compliant, efficient, and scalable solutions for Silicon Labs wireless products.

The team collaborates with cross-functional engineering groups including Bluetooth stack, PHY/RF, systems, validation, and customer-facing teams across multiple global locations.

The Role:

Silicon Labs is seeking a Lead Software Engineer – Embedded Firmware to work on embedded Bluetooth firmware development with a focus on audio-related features across Classic and BLE. This role involves hands-on design, implementation, and debugging of real-time embedded software in resource-constrained environments and contributes across the full product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
  • Implement features supporting Bluetooth audio, HFP calling, and LE Audio.
  • Develop and maintain real-time, timing-critical embedded software.
  • Contribute to wireless coexistence (CoEx) and multi-protocol solutions.
  • Debug and resolve firmware, integration, and interoperability issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and Bluetooth qualification activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and customer issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.

Skill Set :

  • Strong core embedded systems knowledge, including C/C++ firmware development, real-time systems, and low-level debugging.
  • Strong core Bluetooth knowledge, including Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and audio-related profiles.
  • Experience developing memory- and power-optimized embedded solutions, with awareness of performance and MIPS-sensitive designs.
  • Knowledge of wireless coexistence (CoEx) and multi-protocol embedded systems.
  • Hands-on experience delivering embedded software projects from design through release.
  • Demonstrated ability to think beyond standard solutions and independently drive technical outcomes.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices, including automation, scripting, and the use of AI-assisted development tools (GenAI tools, intelligent code assistance, analysis tools).
  • Comfortable working in iterative, fast-paced development environments (“vibe coding” mindset) while maintaining code quality.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical documentation, cross-team collaboration, and problem articulation.
  • Working knowledge of Bluetooth controller concepts and architectures is a plus.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with 8+ years of experience in embedded firmware or wireless software development.

"Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) powered tools and technologies used to enhance productivity, analysis, and decision-making"
