Lead Engineer

Primary Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Architecture

• Lead the design and development of full-stack enterprise software products, owning technical decisions across front-end, back-end, and data integration layers.
• Drive architecture for microservices and web services, ensuring scalability, performance, observability, and maintainability across production systems.
• Establish and enforce development standards, coding conventions, and peer review norms.
• Conduct code reviews to improve software quality across the team.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Implementation, and Support teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

AI-Assisted and Agentic Development

• Leverage GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and comparable AI coding assistants across design, code authoring, review, test generation, and documentation.
• Design, build, and maintain AI agents and multi-agent workflows.
• Define agent instructions, skills, memory, and tool integrations for production-grade agentic systems.
• Apply Model Context Protocol (MCP) or equivalent patterns to connect AI models with internal tools, APIs, and data sources.
• Stay current with developments in the agentic AI landscape.

Delivery, Quality, and Collaboration

• Apply software engineering best practices across the full development lifecycle.
• Develop unit and integration tests and maintain automated test coverage.
• Troubleshoot deployment and environmental issues across multiple concurrent projects.
• Mentor engineers through pair programming, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Foster continuous improvement within a globally distributed Agile team.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience building multi-tier, scalable, enterprise-level products.
• 3+ years of experience in a lead engineering role managing onshore and offshore team members.
• 5+ years of experience developing applications using .NET Core, React/JavaScript, PostgreSQL, AWS, and related technologies.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks.
• Familiarity with Git-based version control and branching strategies.
• Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Strong focus on automation and continuous delivery.
• Experience with performance engineering, scalability design, and observability practices including logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.

Cloud and Data

• Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, ECS, Aurora, RDS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch.
• Experience designing and developing microservices and web services.
• Familiarity with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing technical environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

AI and Agentic Development Tools

• Practical experience using GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor to write, refactor, and review production code.
• Strong understanding of AI agents, skills, and tool-calling.
• Ability to configure and evaluate agentic workflows for multi-step development tasks.
• Working knowledge of LLM APIs or agent orchestration frameworks such as Anthropic API, OpenAI API, LangChain, or Semantic Kernel is a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with HTML5, CSS, TypeScript, and Next.js.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of TDD/BDD methodologies.
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline ownership.
• Knowledge of AI observability tooling for production agentic systems.
• Experience with higher education technology platforms such as ERP, CRM, or student information systems.
