Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with civil, construction, and BIM engineering foundations, combined with a practical and collaborative approach. You should be comfortable working across disciplines, managing technical interfaces, and balancing engineering quality with cost, schedule, and constructability.
This role could suit someone with direct substation experience, but we are also open to candidates from related industrial or infrastructure environments who bring the right technical capability, good judgement, and a willingness to learn. The ideal person will be proactive, communicative, and able to take ownership of their scope while working effectively with both internal teams and external partners.
Required skills, experience, and qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant experience in substations, converter stations, power generation, industrial facilities, transmission infrastructure, or similar projects.
- Practical experience covering areas such as foundations, structural steel, industrial buildings, equipment supports, trenches, drainage, roads, and wider site infrastructure.
- Experience in BIM-based civil or structural engineering, including multidisciplinary model coordination, with proficiency in Revit or comparable BIM / structural modelling tools.
- Experience preparing or reviewing civil engineering documentation, technical specifications, quantities, design inputs, and contractor deliverables, with an understanding of construction methods, contractor interfaces, constructability, and civil cost drivers.
- Ability to lead assigned engineering work packages independently, with good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desirable experience
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering interfaces across complex technical projects.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, reinforced concrete, structural steel, seismic design, and equipment foundations.
- Familiarity with FACTS systems, STATCOM, SVC, high-voltage substations, or similar power infrastructure.
- Understanding of how design decisions affect quantities, installation, construction duration, risk, and total installed cost.
- A proactive and structured approach to problem-solving, prioritisation, and continuous improvement.
