3-Dimensional Services Group is a precision manufacturing company with facilities in Lapeer and Rochester Hills, Michigan. We provide engineering, fabrication, machining, laser processing, and welding services for customers in many industries. We invest in advanced technology and in our people, and our team takes pride in building quality parts the right way. If you want to grow your skills with modern equipment and a team that values craftsmanship, weโ€™d like to hear from you.

  • Program and set up TRUMPF laser welding systems (such as TruLaser Weld / TruLaser Robot with TruDisk or TruFiber sources), including path, focus, power, speed, wobble, and shielding gas settings
  • Develop and document weld parameters for steel, stainless, aluminum, and other alloys, and dial in parameters for new parts and materials
  • Prove out new jobs: first-article welds, cycle time optimization, and adjustments until parts meet print and spec
  • Work with engineering and toolroom on fixture design and part fit-up to get consistent weld results
  • Read blueprints, weld symbols, and GD&T, and verify weld quality through visual inspection and coordination with Quality (sectioning, penetration checks, dimensional checks)
  • Troubleshoot program, robot, laser, and fixture issues to cut downtime and scrap
  • Train and support operators on running cells, changeovers, and basic fault recovery
  • Maintain program backups, revision control, and weld documentation to meet AS9100D and IATF 16949 requirements
  • Follow all safety procedures, including laser safety (Class 4), robot cell lockout/tagout, and interlock protocols

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of programming industrial robots for welding. KUKA (KRL) experience is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience programming and setting up laser welding systems, with TRUMPF experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of laser weld fundamentals, including penetration, heat input, joint design, focus position, and common defects (porosity, cracking, undercut, lack of fusion)
  • Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and GD&T
  • Good troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software issues
  • Comfortable using measuring tools and working with quality documentation
  • High school diploma or GED. A technical degree or certificate is a plus.
