Job Summary

Langan is seeking aSenior Staff Environmental Engineer, Scientist, Geologist, or Hydrogeologistto join its collaborative team inCalgary, AB. This individual will serve a key function in providing site exploration activities, including soil borings and monitoring well installations; conducting field tests; collecting field data and samples; monitoring construction sites; and compiling data and preparing reports. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, solve problems and overcome challenges in restoring the environment and returning blighted properties to productive re-use while protecting and enhancing the environment. Job Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and execution of environmental field investigations by conducting field tests, collecting environmental samples, recordingdata,andperformingroutinecalculations;
• Monitorcomplexconstructionandremediationprojectstoevaluatecompliancewithprojectspecifications,regulatoryrequirements,andapprovedworkplans;
• Collectsoil,soilvapour,indoorandambientair,sediment,surfacewater,andgroundwatersamples;
• Operate,maintain,andoptimizegroundwaterandsoilvapourtreatmentsystems;
• Assistwithobtainingpermits,approvals,andregulatoryauthorizations,andsupportcompliancewithapplicablefederal,provincial,andmunicipalrequirementsrelatedtositeinvestigationandremediationactivities;
• Reviewandinterpretenvironmental,geological,hydrogeological,andhistoricalrecordstosupportenvironmentalduediligenceandcontaminatedsitesassessments;
• Prepareavarietyoftechnicalfielddocumentation,includingdrillinglogs,dailyfieldreports,monitoringrecords,andchain-of-custodydocumentation;
• Identifyandimplementsolutionstoroutineandcomplexfieldchallenges,accuratelydocumentobservations,andkeepprojectmanagersinformedofissuesencounteredduringassignments;
• Leadtasksassociatedwiththepreparationandrevisionoftechnicalreports,specifications,drawings,costestimates,remedialactionplans,andotherengineeringandenvironmentaldeliverables;
• Performandmanagetaskswithinestablishedprojectbudgetsandschedulesandassistwithprojecttrackingandforecasting;
• Interactprofessionallywithclients,regulatoryagencies,contractors,subcontractors,andotherstakeholdersincoordinationwithprojectleadership;
• Superviseorcoordinatetheworkofjuniorstaff,fieldtechnicians,interns,andotherteammembersasneeded;and
• Performotherdutiesasrequested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor'sdegreeinEnvironmentalScience,EnvironmentalEngineering,Geology,Hydrogeology,orarelateddiscipline;
• 4+yearsofrelatedexperienceincontaminatedsitesinvestigation,engineeringfeasibilitystudies,remedialandmitigationsystemdesign,andconstructionoversight;
• Forengineers,registrationasaProfessionalEngineer(P.Eng.)inAlberta,oreligibilitytoobtainregistrationwithinoneyear;
• ExperienceconductingPhaseI,II,andIIIEnvironmentalSiteAssessments,includingdrillingoversight,environmentalsampling,monitoringwellinstallation,andremediation/constructionoversight;
• Experienceperformingsmall-andlarge-scalegroundwatertreatmentsystemdesign,operation,maintenance,andoptimization;
• Experiencesupportinglitigation,regulatory,orexpertwitnessmatters,orsimilartechnicalinvestigations;
• In-depthknowledgeandunderstandingofapplicablefederal,provincial,andmunicipalenvironmentalregulations,includingcontaminatedsitesmanagementandremediationrequirements;
• Experienceworkingwithprovincialregulatoryagenciesandstakeholders;
• Excellentwrittenandverbalcommunicationskills;
• Strongattentiontodetailwithexcellentanalytical,multitasking,andproblem-solvingabilities;
• Abilitytoworkeffectivelybothindependentlyandwithinamultidisciplinaryteamenvironment;
• Availabilitytoworkovertimeasneeded;
• Possessreliabletransportationforclientmeetingsandfieldassignments,andmaintainavaliddriver'slicenseingoodstanding.
