Important Information for Candidates: You will only be contacted if you have experience managing/performing landscape designs for commercial clients for at least 3-5 years. This role requires deep expertise in the industry.

Position Summary

The Landscape Designer develops creative, practical landscape designs that support the growth and successful delivery of our commercial installation business. This role translates client needs, site conditions, and project budgets into attractive, functional outdoor environments that can be installed efficiently and maintained over time. Working closely with sales, estimating, and installation teams, the Landscape Designer supports projects from initial site assessment and concept development through client approval, project handoff, and installation support.

Key Responsibilities

Landscape Design and Planning

  • Conduct site visits (virtually and in person) to assess existing conditions, take measurements, document plant material, and identify access, utility, irrigation, drainage, and installation considerations.
  • Develop conceptual layouts, planting plans, landscape renovation designs, and related presentation materials for commercial properties, communities, and other installation projects.
  • Select plants and materials suited to Florida conditions, site exposure, soil, water availability, desired appearance, and long-term maintenance needs.
  • Prepare clear drawings, plant schedules, material specifications, and design details appropriate to the project scope.
  • Balance design quality with client budgets, material availability, constructability, and ongoing maintenance requirements.

Client and Sales Support

  • Partner with the sales team to understand client priorities, define project scope, and develop design solutions that support proposed installation work.
  • Present design concepts and explain plant selections, materials, design intent, and available alternatives in a clear, professional manner.
  • Incorporate client feedback and maintain accurate records of revisions, approvals, and final design selections.
  • Support sales opportunities with timely designs, visuals, and technical input.

Estimating and Project Coordination

  • Provide accurate plant counts, material quantities, and design information to support estimating and proposal development.
  • Collaborate with estimators, purchasing, and suppliers to confirm availability, identify substitutions, and evaluate options that meet budget and design objectives.
  • Participate in project handoffs to communicate approved scope, design intent, specifications, and site considerations to project managers and installation teams.
  • Respond to field questions, evaluate proposed design changes, and update drawings or specifications as needed.
  • Coordinate with landscape architects, engineers, irrigation specialists, and other project partners when the scope requires their expertise.
  • Participate in site reviews and project closeout as needed to assess alignment with the approved design.

Quality and Organization

  • Manage multiple design assignments, communicate priorities, and meet agreed project deadlines.
  • Maintain organized design files, current drawing versions, and reusable plant and material resources.
  • Follow company safety requirements during site visits and communicate site concerns to the appropriate project leader.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in landscape design, landscape architecture, horticulture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • At least 3-5 years of landscape design experience, including experience supporting commercial installation or landscape renovation projects.
  • Working knowledge of Florida plant material, horticultural practices, landscape installation methods, and maintenance considerations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, or comparable landscape design software; ability to create clear client presentation materials.
  • Ability to interpret site plans, produce accurate scaled drawings, and prepare plant and material quantity takeoffs.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate with clients and field teams.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites within the assigned market.
  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant landscape design work.
