COST of Wisconsin is looking for a Shop & Yard Laborer / Driver to join our team!
This is a hands-on role supporting our shop, yard, production facility, shipping and receiving operations, equipment maintenance, and construction projects. If you enjoyfixing things, staying active, and getting the job done, this could be a great opportunity for you. See our work on COST.
What You'll Do
No two days are exactly alike. You'll have the opportunity to:
- Fix & Maintain – Help diagnose, dismantle, repair, and maintain tools, machinery, vehicles, and equipment.
- Drive & Deliver – Operate company vehicles and forklifts as needed.
- Load & Unload – Support shipping and receiving by loading and unloading materials, equipment, and vehicles.
- Support Projects – Prepare, move, organize, and stage materials and equipment for production and construction projects.
- Inspect Equipment – Help inspect incoming and outgoing equipment and maintain our color-tag quality-control system.
- Manage Inventory – Keep materials, tools, equipment, and supplies organized and accounted for.
- Use Your Skills – Safely operate drills, saws, tape measures, and other hand and power tools.
-  Keep Things Organized – Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, yard, and storage areas.
- Solve Problems – Assist with emergency and time-sensitive repairs when needed.
- Be a Team Player – Work closely with supervisors, coworkers, and other departments to accomplish the task at hand.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who isdependable, mechanically inclined, safety-minded, and willing to jump in wherever help is needed.
You'll Need:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete required DOT physical and drug testing.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.
We'd Love to See:
- Automotive mechanic training or related technical education.
- 2+ years of automotive mechanic experience.
- Construction, manufacturing, equipment maintenance, or shop experience.
- Forklift operating experience.
- OSHA-10 safety training or experience.
- Experience with trucks, automotive lifts, hydraulic equipment, or other machinery.
- Physical Requirements
- This is an active, physically demanding position. You should be comfortable with frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
- Outdoor work is performed in a variety of weather conditions
- Overtime may be required, depending on the project deadline
