We are looking for a detail orientated Laboratory Technician to join our team.  Reporting to Laboratory Team Lead, you will be responsible for assigned analytical and quality control work within Suncor Energy’s Base Plant Laboratory.

Minimum Requirements:
- Must possess a minimum of a two-year diploma in Chemical Laboratory Technology or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from a recognized institution
- 1+ years of experience in an industrial quality control laboratory; experience in a refinery or oil sands environment is preferred
- Understanding of laboratory QA/QC practices
- Exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Key Accountabilities:
- Performing routine and project based analytical work in a safe, environmentally responsible manner according to established policies, procedures, and good laboratory practices
- Support the department and internal customers by providing analytical, instrumental and technical problem solving
- Record and report analytical results in compliance with established quality assurance and quality control procedures
- Knowledge of installation and maintenance of laboratory equipment

Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Baseplant site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
- The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
- You may be required to stand for long periods of time
- The environment requires the use of PPE; safety boots, safety glasses, respiratory equipment, safety gloves, hearing protection, and specialized safety equipment
