Laboratory Manager - LABORATORY

DEFINITION:

Responsible for assisting the Laboratory Director in the management and coordination of the personnel and quality in the clinical Laboratory Services.  Ensures that services are of the best quality, are cost contained and are carried out in an expeditious manner.  Responsible for recognizing results or problems that require follow up and coordination with the Laboratory Director.  Assists with performance improvement activities, staffing coordination, conflict resolution  within the department and participates in CQI activities. Maintains effective physician and intradepartmental relations.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS (IF APPLICABLE):

Certified/Registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, must meet minimum requirements of the Clinical Laboratory Act of 1988. 

Two (2) years experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous leadership experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Two to five years experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist of an acute hospital.

Recent leadership experience in the clinical laboratory of an acute hospital.

Prefer experience with regulatory and accreditation of an acute hospital
