- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for MLC (Maritime Labor Convention) providing support for all departments working aboard.
- Check schedules where needed to ensure they are compliant with applicable MLC regulations
- Responsible for tracking and reporting of rest hour variances to shipboard and shoreside departments. Resident expert and system administrator for time recording applications
- Partner with each department’s scheduler to ensure schedules meet all applicable hours of rest and hours of work requirements
- Partner with departments and operating leaders to reduce/eliminate the risk of hours of rest variances (MLC Requirements), labor hours per week, required rest periods, as well as time clock adjustment errors
- Shipboard System administrator and SME for time recording application
- Track and report weekly compliance with MLC hours of rest regulations
- Monitor and ensure the completion of explanations for all variances to MLC hours of rest regulations
- Find creative ways to utilize labor to improve guest satisfaction while helping leaders achieve their business objectives
- Assist in the implementation of any new Labor Management systems or tactics into the operating areas. (i.e. Clocking system).
- Educate all Crew and Officers on MLC requirements related to rest hours through classes and meetings
- Communicate professionally with both internal and external partners including updates to Business Office Manager regarding situations which may impact their operations
- Emergency Duties as specified in the ship’s Assembly / Emergency Function Plan.
- Pursue continuous improvement opportunities
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of two years professional work experience in an analytical role
- Strong technology aptitude
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with various levels of management from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong organizational skills
- Computer fluency with MS programs – Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Strong partnering and influencing skills
- Ability to create strong working relationships
- Proven attention to detail
Additional Information
This is a SHIPBOARD role.You must:
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
- Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
- Complete a pre-employment medical
- Obtain a criminal background check
