Job Title: Level 2 IT / Systems Integration Technician
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 hours per day
Work Hours: Flexible start and end times between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with a typical schedule of approximately 7:00 AM–3:30 PM.
This is a 6 Month Opportunity, maybe extending.
Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Level 2 IT / Systems Integration Technician to support an onsite IT team in a fast-paced manufacturing and facility construction environment. This individual will assist with the installation, integration, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and deployment of IT hardware, industrial computing systems, and supporting infrastructure as new operations and facilities come online.
The ideal candidate is a technically capable, self-motivated problem solver with strong PC and hardware troubleshooting skills, practical systems integration experience, and the ability to work independently. The technician will receive training on site-specific equipment, applications, and procedures; however, the ability to learn quickly, follow technical direction, research unfamiliar issues, and take initiative without constant supervision will be critical to success.
This role will support a variety of hands-on initiatives, including human-machine interface (HMI) refreshes, camera system deployments, PC and peripheral installations, equipment staging, system racking, and general IT infrastructure integration.
Key Responsibilities
-
Hardware Installation and Integration: Install, connect, configure, and test desktop computers, industrial PCs, monitors, scanners, printers, dashboards, peripherals, and related equipment.
-
HMI Refresh Project: Support the replacement, installation, configuration, and validation of approximately 14 human-machine interface (HMI) units and associated equipment within a chemical laboratory environment.
-
Camera System Deployments: Assist with the installation, connection, configuration, and testing of camera systems, including associated computing hardware, peripherals, and supporting infrastructure.
-
Equipment Staging and Preparation: Unbox, inventory, label, organize, stage, and prepare hardware for deployment, ensuring equipment is properly configured and ready for installation.
-
System Racking and Infrastructure: Assist with equipment mounting, rack installation, hardware placement, cable organization, connectivity, and physical infrastructure integration.
-
Level 2 Technical Support: Diagnose and troubleshoot PC hardware, operating systems, peripheral devices, connectivity issues, configuration problems, and system integration challenges.
-
Testing and Validation: Verify that installed equipment, applications, displays, scanners, printers, and connected systems function as intended before operational handoff.
-
Field Troubleshooting: Investigate hardware and connectivity problems in the field, identify root causes where possible, implement appropriate fixes, and escalate more complex issues when necessary.
-
Construction and Startup Support: Work alongside IT personnel, engineering teams, contractors, and other stakeholders as new manufacturing spaces, laboratory systems, and operational infrastructure are completed and commissioned.
-
Documentation and Turnover: Maintain accurate installation records, equipment inventories, configuration notes, test results, and issue documentation to support project completion and ongoing operations.
-
Project Execution: Manage assigned tasks efficiently, prioritize competing demands, communicate progress, and complete installation and integration activities within established project timelines.
Required Skills and Experience
-
Hands-on experience in an IT support, desktop support, field service, hardware deployment, systems integration, or Level 2 technician role.
-
Strong practical knowledge of PC hardware, Windows-based systems, operating system configuration, drivers, peripherals, and common hardware and software issues.
-
Experience installing, connecting, configuring, and testing computers, monitors, printers, scanners, and other IT equipment.
-
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues methodically, isolate potential causes, and work toward solutions independently.
-
Familiarity with physical infrastructure tasks, including cable management, equipment mounting, rack-and-stack activities, and hardware staging.
-
Comfort working in manufacturing, industrial, laboratory, construction, or other active operational environments.
-
Ability to follow technical instructions, standard operating procedures, wiring diagrams, installation documentation, and equipment specifications.
-
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when handling equipment, documenting installations, and validating completed work.
-
Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality, safety, and schedule expectations.
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with an established onsite IT team, engineers, contractors, and operational personnel.
-
A self-directed work style, sound judgment, resourcefulness, and a willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience supporting manufacturing IT, industrial computing, laboratory systems, or operational technology (OT) environments.
-
Exposure to human-machine interfaces (HMIs), industrial PCs, operator workstations, dashboards, and production-related computing equipment.
-
Experience deploying IP-based camera systems or working with video surveillance hardware and associated network connectivity.
-
Familiarity with basic networking concepts, including Ethernet cabling, IP addressing, switches, network connectivity, and connectivity troubleshooting.
-
Experience with hardware refreshes, technology rollouts, equipment migrations, new facility deployments, or system commissioning.
-
Exposure to equipment racks, patch panels, structured cabling, cable labeling, and physical infrastructure organization.
-
Familiarity with ticketing systems, asset management, inventory tracking, and technical documentation.
-
Experience coordinating installations and resolving issues in environments where production schedules or project milestones are important.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate is a strong, hands-on technician who enjoys working directly with equipment and solving real-world technical problems. They do not need to be an expert in every application or system before starting, but they must possess a solid technical foundation, a proactive attitude, and the confidence to investigate unfamiliar issues and learn new processes quickly.
This individual should be comfortable moving between equipment staging, physical installations, PC troubleshooting, system testing, and field support as project priorities evolve. They must be dependable, adaptable, safety-conscious, and capable of becoming a productive extension of the onsite IT team with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Contract Duration and Schedule
This is a six-month contract assignment supporting active infrastructure deployment, equipment refresh, and manufacturing technology integration initiatives. The technician will work eight hours per day, Monday through Friday, with a flexible start and end time between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The typical team schedule is approximately 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, depending on the lunch break.
The position is primarily hands-on and onsite, with success measured by the ability to learn the environment, execute assigned technical work, troubleshoot effectively, and help bring equipment and systems online accurately and on schedule.
