TheSeniorHydraulicsEngineer serves as a specialist in hydraulic studies and the design of water intake systems, potable water and wastewater pumping stations,intakepipelines,andassociatedinfrastructure.Therolealsoinvolvesactingasasubjectmatterexpertinthedesignofreservoirs,retentionbasins,andotherurbanandindustrialhydraulicfacilities.

The incumbent isresponsiblefortheplanning,analysis,design,andconstructionfollow-upofhydraulicinfrastructureprojectsservingavarietyofsectors,includingmunicipal,hydroelectric,mining,industrial,andenvironmentalmarkets.

Thesuccessfulcandidatewillparticipateinallphasesofprojects,fromfeasibilitystudiesthroughcommissioning.

YourRole

AsaHydraulicsProjectEngineer,youwill:

• Participateinandconducthydraulicstudiesforwaterintakestructureslocatedinrivers,lakes,reservoirs,ormarineenvironments.
• Determinedesignflows,waterlevels,flowvelocities,andheadlosseswithinhydraulicnetworks.
• Assesstheimpactsofice,sediments,floatingdebris,andseasonalvariationsonintakefacilities.
• Designsurfaceandsubmergedwaterintakesforindustrial,mining,andmunicipalfacilitiesincollaborationwithCivilEngineeringteams.
• Designscreens,strainers,approachbasins,intakechambers,controlstructures,andpumpingstations.
• Definehydraulic,structural,andoperationaldesigncriteria.
• Collaboratewithcivil,mechanical,geotechnical,environmental,andelectricalteamstoensureproperintegrationofinfrastructurecomponents.
• Preparedesigncriteriadocuments,calculations,technicalreports,andspecifications.
• Developplansandspecificationsforconceptual,preliminary,anddetaileddesignstages.
• Conductmultidisciplinarytechnicalreviews.
• Participateinprojectplanningandengineeringeffortestimating.
• Actasakeypointofcontactwithclientsandregulatoryauthorities.
• Serveastheteam'shydraulicengineeringsubjectmatterexpert.
• Presentengineeringconcepts,assumptions,andstudyresults.
• Ensurethetechnicalqualitycontrolofprojectdeliverables.
• Provideconstructionsupport.
• Respondtocontractors’requestsforinformation(RFIs).
• Reviewshopdrawingsandequipmenttechnicaldatasheets.
• Participateinsiteinspectionsandcommissioningactivities.

AboutYou

• Bachelor'sdegreeinCivilEngineering,WaterResourcesEngineering,HydraulicEngineering,orarelateddiscipline.
• Master's degree in Applied Hydraulics(anasset).
• Minimumof15yearsofrelevantexperience.
• RegisteredProfessionalEngineerandmemberoftheOrdredesingénieursduQuébec(OIQ),oreligibleforregistration.
• Significantexperienceinthedesignofwaterintakesystems,pumpingstations,ormajorhydraulicinfrastructure.
• Experienceinhydraulicsystemsforwatertreatmentandwastewatertreatmentfacilities(anasset).
• Experienceinthehydroelectric,mining,industrial,ormunicipalsectors.
• KnowledgeofCanadianstandardsandapplicableenvironmentalregulations.
• Strongunderstandingofinteractionsbetweencivil,mechanical,andprocessengineeringdisciplines.
• Client-focusedwithastrongresultsorientation.
• Abilitytomentoranddevelopjuniorengineers.
• AdvancedproficiencyinMicrosoftOfficeSuiteandMicrosoftProject.
• Experiencewithurbanhydraulicmodelingsoftwareisconsideredanasset(e.g.,PCSWMM,WaterGEMS).
• Experiencewithtransienthydraulicmodelingsoftwareisconsideredanasset(e.g.,OpenFlowsHAMMER,SIMSEN).
• ExperiencewithCFDhydraulicmodelingsoftwareisconsideredanasset(e.g.,OpenFOAM).
• Personalqualities:autonomy,leadership,goal-orientedmindset,strongclientfocus,andexcellentteamworkskills.
• ExcellentwrittenandverbalcommunicationskillsinbothFrenchandEnglish.

*ThispositionrequiresproficiencyinalanguageotherthanFrench,specificallyEnglish,astheclientsandsupplierswithwhomyouwillinteractareprimarilyEnglish-speakingandlocatedoutsideQuebec.
