Job Description
Tesla is looking for an experiencedKUKA Robot Programmer to support robotic automation and manufacturing operations at its Reno, Nevada facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and optimizingKUKA industrial robots in a manufacturing/automation environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and optimizeKUKA robot programs for automated manufacturing processes.
- Perform robot programming, setup, calibration, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Diagnose and resolve robot faults, programming issues, and equipment downtime.
- Support integration of KUKA robots with PLCs, sensors, vision systems, conveyors, and other automation equipment.
- Perform robot teach pendant programming and coordinate robot motion paths.
- Optimize robot cycle times, positioning, sequencing, and overall equipment performance.
- Assist with installation, startup, and commissioning of robotic systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues affecting robotic operations.
- Work closely with controls engineers, manufacturing engineers, technicians, and production teams.
- Maintain documentation for robot programs, changes, troubleshooting procedures, and system configurations.
- Follow Tesla safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.
Required Skills
- 3–5 years of hands-on KUKA robot programming experience.
- Strong knowledge ofKUKA industrial robots and KUKA programming.
- Experience withKUKA teach pendant and robot setup/configuration.
- Experience troubleshooting and optimizing robotic automation systems.
- Understanding of industrial automation, PLCs, sensors, and I/O.
- Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings and automation documentation.
- Manufacturing, automotive, battery, or high-volume production experience is highly preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience withKUKA KRL programming.
- Experience withKUKA KRC controllers.
- Experience with robotic welding, material handling, assembly, dispensing, or other manufacturing applications.
- Experience integrating robots withSiemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, or other PLC platforms.
- Experience with robotic cell commissioning and startup.
- Automotive or EV manufacturing experience.
