This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Homewood Mountain & Lake Club, set on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe in Homewood, California.

Homewood is seeking Outdoor Pursuits Attendants and Coaches to join the Outdoor Pursuits Department this winter.

The Outdoor Pursuits Attendant or Coach is a hands-on, member-facing role supporting daily activations across Homewood's mountain, land, and lake programming. Attendants keep every outing running smoothly behind the scenes and in member areas, while Coaches additionally step forward to lead groups on the mountain and around the property in resort tours, training clinics, and group activities for members and guests of all ages.
 

This role requires a proactive, safety-minded team player who takes pride in preparation, service, and guest connection. Whether staging gear for the day's activities or leading a games, the ideal candidate brings energy, reliability, and a genuine love of the outdoors to every shift.
 

Working closely with the Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator and Guide team, the Outdoor Pursuits Attendants and Coaches helps deliver Homewood's adventure programming, one setup, one lesson, and one great day at a time.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Activity Support & Guest Experience
    • Support daily activations across Outdoor Pursuits on the mountain, across the property and in Club Facilities.
    • Greet members and guests, checking them in for activities and directing them to the appropriate Guide, Coach, or captain.
    • Assist Guides and Coaches with group setup, equipment distribution, and activity breakdown.
    • Coach tier: lead resort tours, structured sessions, clinics, and group activities, including kids' adventure programming, games, and entry-level instruction.
       
  • Equipment & Trip Preparation
    • Prep, inspect, and stage gear and equipment ahead of each activity, confirming everything is safe and guest-ready.
    • Maintain, clean, and store recreational equipment to manufacturer and club standards.
    • Track equipment condition and inventory, flagging maintenance, repair, or replacement needs to the Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator.
    • Assist with seasonal transitions, gear changeovers, and activity area readiness.
       
  • Safety & Risk Management
    • Follow Homewood's safety protocols on every activity, including equipment checks and weather and condition assessments.
    • Maintain current certifications required for the role, including First Aid/CPR; Coach tier requires activity-specific coaching or instructional certifications and prior experience.
    • Respond to incidents or concerns calmly and appropriately, following Homewood's protocols and escalating to leadership as needed.
    • Communicate hazards, closures, or changing conditions promptly to the Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator and fellow team members.
       
  • General Operations & Team Support
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked Outdoor Pursuits base, including gear rooms, vehicles, and equipment storage.
    • Communicate observations, needs, and service updates to the Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator.
    • Support other Club Operations departments during peak periods as needed.
    • Assist with special projects, events, and programming launches as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.
       

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Attendant (Tier 1): entry-level outdoor recreation, hospitality, or guest service experience and on mountain ski and snowbard skills required; no prior guiding or coaching certification required.
  • Coach (Tier 2): 1+ years of coaching, instructing, or activity leadership experience; relevant activity certification required, sport-specific certifications such as PSIA-AASI, USSA/USASA qualifications, youth coaching, first aid training.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification required, or ability to obtain prior to start.
  • Comfortable and experienced working in winter outdoor mountain terrain and conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine enthusiasm for working with members, guests, and children.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.

  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

This is a tiered position: Tier 1 (Attendant) earns $24-$28 per hour; Tier 2 (Coach) earns $29-$35 per hour. The Company's good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
