Manager Safety Compliance

The Manager Safety Compliance leads company-wide safety and regulatory compliance efforts by developing, implementing, and maintaining programs supporting OSHA, DOT, EPA, NFPA, and applicable federal, state, and local requirements. This position also oversees driving eligibility, substance abuse programs, and fleet safety initiatives. The Manager partners with Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, and Distribution and Store Operations to reduce organizational risk, strengthen regulatory compliance, improve workplace and fleet safety, support regulatory inspections and investigations, and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Develop and maintain company-wide safety compliance programs supporting OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.

Oversee driving eligibility, substance abuse programs, and fleet safety initiatives to support company policy, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction.

Monitor regulatory changes and communicate compliance requirements to leadership.

Conduct compliance audits, safety assessments, and program reviews.

Identify compliance deficiencies and oversee corrective action plans.

Coordinate responses to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other regulatory inspections, investigations, citations, and requests for information.

Maintain corporate safety policies, procedures, standards, and guidance documents.

Review incident investigations and verify corrective actions.

Analyze injury, motor vehicle accident, audit, and compliance data to identify trends and recommend improvements.

Support the environmental compliance team, including hazardous waste, hazardous materials, spill prevention, and reporting.

Partner with field leadership to improve safety performance and strengthen compliance.

Support company-wide safety, fleet safety, and injury prevention initiatives.

Serve as a company subject matter expert on occupational safety, regulatory compliance, driving eligibility, substance abuse programs, and fleet safety.

Prepare reports and presentations for leadership.

Travel to company locations for assessments, investigations, and training.

Maintain current knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent experience.

5+ years of occupational safety, environmental, or regulatory compliance experience.

Thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations, general industry safety standards, and applicable NFPA codes and standards.

Working knowledge of DOT and EPA regulations.

Experience conducting audits, investigations, and inspections.

Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.

Ability to interpret regulatory changes and translate requirements into practical guidance and training for field safety team members.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and safety management software.

Ability to travel as business needs require. 10-20%

DESIRED

Certified Safety Professional (CSP), ASP, or similar certification.

Experience supporting multi-site retail, distribution, manufacturing, or transportation operations.

Experience responding to regulatory agency inspections and citations.

Experience with business intelligence and safety reporting systems.
