Senior Engineer, Roads

What you’ll do

We are seeking a motivated Senior Civil Designer to support the design and delivery of transport infrastructure projects. 

This role will contribute to the development of multidisciplinary road projects, from tender all the way to detail design. 

You will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams, supporting development of infrastructure options that respond to client, community and network needs. 

• Create and manage 3D civil models, including corridors, terrain models, alignments, profiles and templates. 

• Develop road geometry, including horizontal and vertical alignments, intersections widening and earthworks 

• Prepare civil design plans, profiles, cross-sections and construction documentation. 

• Work closely with engineers, project managers to deliver practical, coordinated and construction-ready civil designs. 

• Support project delivery in line with quality, budget and schedule requirements. 

• Produce and manage quantity take-offs and schedules from the 3D model.  

• Prepare technical reports, design documentation and client presentations. 

• Must be able to work autonomously with minimal support from engineers and other designers.  

What you’ll bring

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). 

• Minimum eight years’ experience in  

• Knowledge of Australian Standards and industry design practices. 

• Demonstrated experience in major roads projects 

• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design activities. 

• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. 

• Ability to review, verify and approve design outputs and models. 

• A proactive mindset focused on quality, innovation and continuous improvement. 

• Experience working on Australian states or local government transport projects.

Key software requirements 

• Essential - ProjectWise (negotiable, must understand document management systems), MicroStation (negotiable), Open Roads (non-negotiable) 

• Desirable(negotiable) – Civil 3d, Autodesk Forma, 12d, Navisworks
