Machinist, Level 1-H (2nd Shift)

Location: Kalamazoo, MI (Shaft Operations)
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 3:30 PM - 12:00 Midnight

Role Summary

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role includes fabricating, modifying, and repairing mechanical instruments and components. The Machinist will apply knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layouts, and machining procedures to support production and maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate machine tools and equipment to produce quality parts and components.
• Carry out operational tasks following established manufacturing processes.
• Assist with equipment maintenance and repair activities.
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Interpret and utilize precision measuring instruments, including:
  • Micrometers
  • Dial indicators
  • Depth gauges
  • Other precision measurement tools
• Read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances (GD&T).
• Communicate effectively with team members and leaders to support production objectives.
• Follow established procedures and work instructions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment.
• Experience operating:
  • Manual lathes
  • Milling machines
  • CNC lathes
  • CNC mills
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Strong verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work effectively.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
