Location: Cambridge, MA
Contract: 6 Months
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data integration processes.
- Monitor existing workflows and troubleshoot data pipeline or integration issues.
- Create and maintain data models that support analytics and scientific use cases.
- Work with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into practical engineering solutions.
- Support data governance activities, including metadata, data lineage, and data quality.
- Contribute to engineering standards, documentation, testing, and deployment practices.
- Leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to improve coding efficiency, troubleshooting, and engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with team members to continuously improve the reliability and scalability of the organization's data environment.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or a closely related field.
- Strong hands-on programming experience with Python.
- Solid proficiency in SQL and experience working with data-intensive applications.
- Demonstrated experience developing and supporting production-grade data pipelines.
- Understanding of data modeling concepts and data quality practices.
- Experience working within AWS cloud environments.
- Exposure to modern data engineering technologies such as Apache Spark, dbt, Dagster, Apache Iceberg, Amazon Athena, or Polars.
- Experience with Git and standard software development/version-control practices.
- Familiarity with AI-powered development assistants such as ChatGPT/GPT, Claude, or similar tools.
- Background working with life sciences, biotechnology, healthcare, or scientific datasets.
- Experience with clinical, bioinformatics, or research-related data.
- Knowledge of semantic data modeling and data quality frameworks/tools.
- Exposure to scientific platforms such as Benchling, CDD, or comparable systems.
- AWS-related certifications are a plus.
