Essential Responsibilities
As a Junior Machinist, you will learn to set up and operate CNC machining equipment used to manufacture critical turbine components. This role provides hands-on experience across multiple machining platforms while working in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Set up and operate CNC machining equipment including milling machines, drill centers, lathes, vertical turning lathes (VTLs), and horizontal boring mills (HBMs) as assigned.
- Follow detailed work instructions, engin
- eering drawings, specifications, and machining procedures.
- Assist in machining large turbine components and forgings to required tolerances and quality standards.
- Perform machine setups, tooling changes, offsets, and basic troubleshooting under established procedures.
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments and gauging equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CNC programs.
- Maintain accurate production, inspection, and machine records.
- Perform material handling duties and safely operate cranes and related lifting equipment as required.
- Perform routine operator preventive maintenance per workstation standards.
- Participate in process improvement, cycle reduction, and continuous improvement activities.
- Support Environmental, Health & Safety initiatives and comply with all safety requirements.
- Cross-train on multiple machining centers and product lines as business needs require.
- Complete required training and certification programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent training in Machine Tool Technology, Precision Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field; or
- Completion of a vocational, technical, apprenticeship, military, or trade program related to machining or manufacturing; or
- Minimum 1 year of manufacturing, machining, fabrication, machine operation, maintenance, or related industrial experience.
- Flexibility:Ā Willingness to work A, B C, or D Shift.
- A: 5AM - 3:30PM (MON, TUES, WED, TH)
- B: 3:30PM - 2AM (MON, TUES, WED, TH)
- C: 6AM - 6:30PM (FRI, SAT, SUN)
- D: 6PM - 6:30AM (FRI, SAT, SUN)
Additionally, qualified candidates should have:
- Basic understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Familiarity with precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators.
- Basic shop math skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to learn CNC machining, tooling, setups, and inspection processes.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Pay Rate:Ā The pay range for this position is$32.2972/hr - $33.7190/hr plus a 10% shift bonus. An additional 10% bonus is available for weekend shifts. This posting is expected to close once suitable candidates are identified.
