Junior DevOps Engineer – Job Description
Role Overview
A Junior DevOps Engineer supports the development and operations teams by helping automate, deploy, and maintain applications and infrastructure. This role focuses on improving system reliability, streamlining CI/CD pipelines, and learning DevOps best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Support application deployment and environment setup
- Monitor systems, applications, and infrastructure performance
- Help automate repetitive tasks using scripts and tools
- Troubleshoot basic issues in development, testing, and production environments
- Work with cloud platforms to manage infrastructure
- Collaborate with developers and QA teams for smooth releases
- Maintain documentation for processes and systems
- Ensure basic security and compliance practices are followed
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 0–2 years of experience (freshers with relevant skills can apply)
- Basic understanding of Linux/Unix systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts
- Knowledge of version control systems like Git
- Basic scripting knowledge (Shell, Python, or similar)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP)
- Strong problem-solving and willingness to learn
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker)
- Basic knowledge of orchestration tools (Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
