Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic ( Working on the Lube Team)

Where will you work: Onsite – K2, Esterhazy, Saskatchewan

Starting wage $63.56 as per local CBA.

Shift Schedule: 9/80

To perform the duties of Industrial Mechanic safely and efficiently in an assigned area on an assigned shift.

What you’ll do?

• Inspect, install, adjust, and maintain mechanical machines and equipment on site.

• Dismantle, repair, and assemble plant equipment in line with manufacturers' specifications and recommended standards.

• Safely operate specific units of mobile equipment including overhead and mobile crane.

• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems and components.

• Display full knowledge and use of drawings, prints, sketches, and parts manuals.

• Display full knowledge precision maintenance tools.

• Operate all equipment serviced or repaired.

• Pass all related training classes.

• Work from ladder, platform, staging scaffold, swing stage and mobile equipment basket.

• If required must be prepared to train and handle firefighting duties as a member of the shift fire crew.

• Interpret and carry out written or oral instructions, and to make written reports as required.

• Diligently adhere to all relevant legal environmental requirements.

• Diligently ensure that all relevant OH&S requirements and in-house safety regulations are complied with.

Core Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Lubrication Execution 

• Apply lubricants (oils, greases, specialty fluids) to machinery according to schedules 

• Use proper quantities, methods, and tools (manual, automated, or centralized systems) 

• Use ultrasonic grease gun for specific applications 

• Perform oil changes, grease replenishment, and system flushing 

• Prevent over‑lubrication and under‑lubrication 

2. Lubricant Management 

• Select the correct lubricant for each application based on Job Plans and OEM specs 

• Store, handle, and transfer lubricants contamination‑free 

• Maintain Lubricant Stock and Inventory 

• Label and color‑code lubricants and equipment 

• Track lubricant usage and inventory 

3. Condition Monitoring & Inspections 

• Conduct routine machine inspections during lubrication rounds 

• Check oil levels, grease conditions, leaks, filters, breathers, and seals 

• Identify early signs of wear, overheating, vibration, or contamination 

• Take basic readings (temperature, noise, visual condition) 

4. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Support 

• Follow PM schedules tied to lubrication tasks 

• Support PdM programs by identifying lubrication‑related failures 

• Help extend asset life and improve equipment uptime 

• Report findings and recommend corrective actions 

5. Equipment Care & Reliability Practices 

• Maintain and clean lubrication points (fittings, ports, lines) 

• Install or maintain breathers, sight glasses, and filters 

• Help eliminate contamination (water, dirt, particulates) 

• Support best practices such as precision lubrication 

6. Documentation & Reporting 

• Record lubrication work completed (CMMS or excel spreadsheets) 

• Document machine conditions and anomalies 

• Track lubrication intervals and changes 

• Communicate issues clearly with maintenance, operations, and reliability teams 

7. Safety & Environmental Compliance 

• Follow site safety procedures (LOTO, PPE, confined space, hot work awareness) 

• Handle and dispose of lubricants and waste according to environmental regulations 

• Prevent spills and respond appropriately if they occur 

Must Haves 

• Valid Red Seal Journyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification 

• Valid Class 5 driver's license

• Pumps, motors, gearboxes 

• Conveyors, compactors, impactors, crushers, screens 

• Fans, blowers, compressors 

• Bearings, chains, couplings 

• Hydraulic and circulating oil systems 

What you’ll need:

• ​A recognized, valid, Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic's Certificate.

• Full knowledge of the safe utilization and care of power and hand tools.

• Full knowledge of cutting and welding practices.

• The ability to discern the state of mechanical condition of machines and equipment and take appropriate action.

• Employment is subject to successfully completing Mosaic's pre-employment checks including criminal, drug and alcohol testing.

• Must be authorized to work in Canada.
