POSITION SUMMARY: This position will provide case management services to immigrant families including services such as applying for public benefits, accessing medical care, assisting children to enroll in school, providing referrals to external organizations, and ongoing community orientation. This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until 6/30/2027 and contingent upon funding extension.Â
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments with immigrant families to assess needs and barriers, and to facilitate connections to appropriate services for meeting identified needs.
- Assist asylum seeking families in accessing and understanding public benefits such as Medicaid, All Kids, VTTC and WIC.
- Orient participants to the healthcare system including making appointments, arranging transportation, and communicating important information to physicians.
- Provide education/orientation to families regarding their new surroundings in the city of Chicago.
- Assist immigrants in scheduling and attending appointments with social service and medical providers, at times providing transportationÂ
- Maintain timely and accurate client files, case notes, and reporting recordsÂ
- Actively participate in department meetings and program trainingsÂ
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World ReliefsCore Beliefs,Statement of Faith,Christian Identity andNational Association of Evangelicals' For the Health of The Nation document
- Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and ability to pass MVR standardsÂ
- Ability/willingness to drive minivan and/or 15-passenger van required
- Bilingual (Spanish or Arabic preferred due to client/community needs)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office

- Highly self-motivated with strong follow-through and ability to work independently
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environmentÂ
- Knowledge of the immigrant experience highly preferredÂ
- Strong mediation and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and relational skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to follow through on projects and assignments
- Experience and/or training in working with traumatized populations or trauma informed careÂ
- Desire to engage the local church in partnership with our service to asylum seekers
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, problem solve, and exercise critical thinking skillsÂ
- Willingness to advocate on behalf of clients with service providers, and governmental organizations
