Manager / Senior Manager / Associate Director - M&A (Deal Advisory)

The Opportunity:

• KPMG has a longstanding presence in the New Zealand market as a trusted M&A advisor, with a senior team having extensive investment banking experience.
• Join a growing M&A advisory team where you'll work alongside experienced dealmakers, helping clients navigate some of their most important strategic decisions, including acquisitions, divestments, capital raisings and growth initiatives.
• We are looking to add a Manager, Senior Manager or Associate Director to support the execution and delivery of M&A advisory mandates.
• As part of KPMG’s globally ranked M&A platform (consistently #1 or #2 in the mid-market) and leading New Zealand team (winner of INFINZ mid-market M&A deal of the year in 2026), you’ll have access to a strong pipeline of high-quality mandates, including domestic and cross-border transactions, often delivered in collaboration with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.

Day To Day You Will:

• Work closely and build trsuted relationships with business owners, executives, boards and investors throughout the transaction lifecyle.
• Analyse industries, markets and businesses.
• Prepare key process materials (e.g. Information Memorandum, management presentations, etc.) 
• Develop financial models and undertake valuation analysis.
• Develop commercial insights and recommendations that support critical business decisions.
• Support the senior team with overall M&A process management.
• Collaborate closely with the broader Deal Advisory team and senior stakeholders across the full M&A deal lifecycle.
• Contribute to the efficient management of transaction processes and team operations. 
• Support the development and coaching of junior team members.

About You:

• We welcome applications from candidates with at least 3+ years’ experience in M&A, investment banking, corporate development and strategy backgrounds. 
• If you've been involved in evaluating significant investments, growth opportunities or complex business decisions and are looking to apply those skills in an advisory environment, we'd love to hear from you.
• A strong academic track record, demonstrating consistent performance.
• Strong analytical and financial modelling capability, or a proven quantitative skillset.
• Proven commercial acumen and the ability to understand key value drivers of businesses and industries.
• A proactive, self-starting approach with ability to perform under pressure.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A genuine interest in M&A, corporate strategy and helping clients navigate complex business decisions.
