At Kpler, we are dedicated to helping our clients navigate complex markets with ease. By simplifying global trade information and providing valuable insights, we empower organisations to make informed decisions in commodities, energy, and maritime sectors. Since our founding in 2014, we have focused on delivering top-tier intelligence through user-friendly platforms. Our team of over 850 experts from 69 countries works tirelessly to transform intricate data into actionable strategies, ensuring our clients stay ahead in a dynamic market landscape. Join us to leverage cutting-edge innovation for impactful results and experience unparalleled support on your journey to success.
As a Sensor Network Field Agent, you will serve as a vital link between physical energy monitoring and Kpler's global intelligence capabilities. Operating with high autonomy, you will oversee end-to-end field operations across the United States—identifying optimal locations, negotiating access with private landowners, and installing physical sensor infrastructure. In this dynamic role, your field execution directly expands our proprietary ground network, empowering global commodity and energy markets with real-time, actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure site access: Utilize online mapping tools and satellite imagery to identify optimal installation sites, research land ownership, and negotiate site access agreements directly with landowners.
  • Deploy physical sensor infrastructure: Lead hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and calibration of Electro-Magnetic Field (EMF) sensors and camera systems along powerline rights-of-way.
  • Manage autonomous field operations: Execute independent weekly travel across the United States (driving and flying), making real-time decisions on site selection, routing, and field execution.
  • Maintain data accuracy and records: Upload site details, sensor data, and operational updates immediately into company databases to preserve high-fidelity intelligence.
  • Perform site upkeep and preventative maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot hardware issues, and manage vegetation growth to guarantee continuous sensor performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner daily with Sensor Network Operations Managers, Data Analysts, and Finance teams using Slack and Salesforce to communicate progress and manage travel expenses.

Experience & Background

  • Bachelor's degree OR 3+ years of relevant operational or technical field experience.
  • High-level interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build trust and negotiate directly with landowners.
  • Practical mechanical aptitude and comfort using common hand tools, voltmeters, ladders, and performing physical site preparation like excavating post holes and setting posts in cement.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record, and full willingness to travel weekly across the US (up to 44 weeks per year) with overnight stays Monday through Thursday.
  • Physical capability to work outdoors across varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Nice-to-haves:

  • Previous experience as a Landman, Right-of-Way (ROW) agent, or background in real estate and title research.
  • Familiarity with transmission powerlines, oil and gas pipelines, or energy monitoring infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with GIS software (such as QGIS), aerial mapping tools, or Salesforce.
