About The Role:Â
Hermeus is seeking talented students to join our Manufacture Engineering team in Los Angeles to support improvement initiatives to expand in-house manufacturing capabilities and contribute to the design, build, and testing of flight and critical ground support hardware. Spring: Around 16 weeks (January - April)Summer: Around 12 weeks (May - August)Fall: Around 16 weeks (September - December)Responsibilities:
- Evaluate designs for manufacturability and testing, providing feedback to design team Â
- Design and implement tooling and test solutions where appropriate, to support component build and delivery Â
- Develop new processes and procedures to support flight hardware builds Â
- Manage projects and execute to tight timelines while effectively and proactively communicating with stakeholders Â
- Provide data-driven solutions to technical issues encountered during buildÂ
- Actively interface with technician and engineering teams to resolve product non-conformances and keep build on scheduleÂ
- Develop and refine floor layouts Â
- Support capacity modeling and time studies to identify and prioritize opportunities for process improvement Â
- Collaborate with other engineers, subject matter experts, and technicians to solve large-scale and widespread production challenges  Â
Requirements:
- Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies or projects.
- Must be currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year of study, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).
- Strong interest in vehicle hardware.
- Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
- Enthusiasm for aviation and Hermeus's mission.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- GPA of 3.0 or above.
The hourly rate listed for this internship is intended as a general guideline. Final compensation will be determined based on degree level.
