Carrier Relations Manager

Duties/Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end relationships with insurance carriers and MGAs across HO4 renters, master policy, and device insurance lines

• Source, evaluate, and onboard new carrier partners based on appetite, pricing competitiveness, and geographic coverage needs

• Negotiate contract terms, commission schedules, and binding authority agreements with carrier and wholesale partners

• Monitor loss ratios, retention, complaint ratios, and other book performance metrics; proactively flag and address issues before they threaten an appointment

• Serve as the primary escalation point for carrier-side service, claims, or underwriting issues that require agency-level intervention

• Partner with Compliance/Legal to manage state licensing, appointments, and admitted/non-admitted carrier requirements as the agency expands into new states

• Coordinate with Product and Engineering on carrier system integrations, including rating updates, policy data feeds, and API connections

• Track and report on carrier performance, commission accruals, and program health to leadership on a regular cadence

• Stay current on personal lines market trends, carrier appetite shifts, and regulatory changes affecting renters, master policy, and device insurance

• Represent Entrata at carrier and industry meetings, conferences, and renewal negotiations

Essential Functions

• Establish, grow, and optimize strategic partnerships with insurance carriers and managing general agents.

   

• Evaluate complex financial and operational risk data, including loss and retention ratios, to guide course of action.

   

• Manage cross-functional alignments with technical, product, and legal units to implement carrier integrations.

   

• Act as an internal resource and expert on personal lines insurance market changes and regulatory updates.

   

• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively by meeting deadlines and managing workload efficiently.

   

• Maintain professional interaction with internal and external stakeholders

   

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment

Minimum Qualifications/Skills

• 4+ years of experience in insurance carrier management, MGA operations, or agency management, with direct experience in personal lines (renters, homeowners, or similar)

• Demonstrated experience negotiating carrier contracts and commission agreements

• Working knowledge of state insurance licensing and appointment requirements

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to read and act on loss ratio, retention, and performance data

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the company confidently to external carrier partners

• Insurance license/  willing to get in first 90 days

• Ability to manage multiple carrier relationships and competing priorities in a fast-moving environment

Education and Experience Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in insurance carrier management, MGA operations, or agency management, with direct experience in personal lines (renters, homeowners, or similar)

• Demonstrated experience negotiating carrier contracts and commission agreements

AI & Operational Fluency

• AI Integration: Proactively leverages company-approved GenAI tools to automate routine tasks and accelerate high-value deliverables.

   

• Strategic Oversight: Functions as the "Human-in-the-Loop," taking full accountability for auditing AI outputs for factual accuracy, brand alignment, and the removal of hallucinations.

   

• Data Governance: Adheres strictly to AI security protocols, ensuring no proprietary or Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data is exposed to unauthorized models.

   

• Prompt Competency: Demonstrates the ability to craft clear, context-rich prompts to achieve consistent, high-quality results across various business domains.

This band covers the full salary range for the role. Your offer within this range will depend on factors like experience, skills, and internal equity.
