If you answered “Yes,” then read on! As a Content Strategist & Editor at Educative, you will help develop and execute content strategy across Educative’s websites, microsites, community platforms, and external publishing channels. This is not a traditional writing or copy-editing role. We are looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking, strong editorial judgment, technical content expertise, marketing, and execution.
You will be expected to think through the strategy, build the right approach, and execute initiatives end to end—from research and ideation to content creation, editorial refinement, publishing, distribution, measurement, and optimization. As Educative increasingly leverages AI to scale content production, you will also play a critical editorial role in ensuring that AI-assisted content meets a high quality bar. This means going beyond grammar and proofreading to fact-check, research, restructure, rewrite, improve storytelling, identify content gaps, and ensure that every piece provides genuine value to the user.
A Computer Science or other technical background is a strong plus, as this role sits at the intersection of technical content and marketing. You will work across content strategy, editorial, AEO/GEO, SEO, storytelling, competitive intelligence, AI-assisted content production, automation, and execution. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Develop and execute content strategies across Educative’s websites, microsites, community platforms, and external publishing channels.
- Think strategically about what content we should create, why we should create it, who it is for, how it should be distributed, and how we can scale it.
- Conduct user, market, search, and competitor research to identify content gaps, emerging opportunities, and areas where Educative can build authority.
- Analyze competitor topics, formats, messaging, publishing strategies, SEO approaches, editorial quality, and distribution channels.
- Translate research and competitive insights into actionable content strategies, editorial priorities, content briefs, and new initiatives.
- Research, create, edit, optimize, and publish technical blogs, newsletters, landing pages, guides, and other short- and long-form content.
- Use GPT, Claude, and other generative AI tools for research, ideation, drafting, editing, optimization, repurposing, and scaling content production.
- Help build and continuously improve Educative’s AI-assisted content production and editorial workflows.
- Serve as the editorial layer for AI-generated content, ensuring increased content output does not come at the expense of quality.
- Substantially improve AI-generated and human-written content through research, fact-checking, restructuring, rewriting, editing, and human judgment.
- Review content for technical accuracy, depth, originality, clarity, structure, readability, search intent, and overall user value.
- Identify outdated information, factual inaccuracies, weak explanations, content gaps, unsupported claims, repetition, and opportunities to make content more useful and differentiated.
- Determine when content can be efficiently produced or scaled using AI and when it requires original research, technical expertise, human judgment, or storytelling.
- Develop and maintain editorial standards and guidelines for AI-assisted and human-created content.
- Shape headlines, introductions, narratives, examples, CTAs, and overall content structure to make technical content more engaging and effective.
- Develop compelling stories and narratives around technology, software development, AI, education, and Educative’s products.
- Develop user-focused landing page and marketing copy that clearly communicates value, addresses user needs, drives engagement, and supports conversion.
- Apply SEO best practices, including keyword research, search intent analysis, content optimization, internal linking, topical coverage, and content structure.
- Develop and optimize content for AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) as search and content discovery increasingly move beyond traditional search engines.
- Experiment with new content formats, publishing platforms, distribution channels, and AI-powered content workflows.
- Identify opportunities to repurpose and distribute content across blogs, newsletters, Medium, Substack, DEV Community, microsites, and other relevant channels.
- Manage content across multiple publishing accounts while maintaining consistent brand positioning, messaging, voice, and editorial quality.
- Monitor content performance and use data, audience insights, search trends, and competitive intelligence to continuously improve content initiatives.
- Contribute to editorial calendars and manage initiatives from strategy and ideation through execution, publishing, distribution, measurement, and optimization.
- Collaborate with SEO, marketing, product, engineering, and subject-matter experts to create content aligned with both user needs and business objectives.
- Take ownership of projects and proactively identify opportunities rather than waiting for predefined assignments.
- 1–3 years of experience in content marketing, technical content, content strategy, editorial, SEO, or a related field.
- Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or another technical background is a strong plus.
- Strong combination of strategic thinking, editorial judgment, research, and execution skills.
- Exceptional research, editing, and writing skills, with the ability to substantially improve content rather than simply proofread it.
- Ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate them in clear, accessible, and engaging ways.
- Strong understanding of what makes content accurate, useful, differentiated, well-structured, and valuable to the target audience.
- Ability to think strategically about content while also being comfortable executing the work yourself.
- Experience using GPT, Claude, and other generative AI tools for content research, creation, editing, optimization, or workflow automation.
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated content and apply strong human editorial judgment to improve its quality.
- Working understanding of SEO best practices and search intent; experience using SEO tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with AEO/GEO and AI-powered search experiences is a strong plus.
- Strong understanding of content strategy, storytelling, content distribution, and audience research.
- Ability to conduct competitor and market research and translate findings into actionable strategies.
- Comfortable experimenting with AI-powered workflows, automation, and new content production processes.
- Meticulous eye for detail and high standards for content quality.
- Curious, growth-minded, and eager to learn about emerging technologies and changes in the content and search landscape.
- Self-starter who takes ownership and can independently take an initiative from strategy → approach → execution → optimization.
- Passion for technology, education, learning, and helping people build technical skills.
- Interested in the latest trends and developments in technology, software development, AI, and developer behavior.
- Programming experience or familiarity with coding concepts is a major plus.
The ideal candidate is not simply a traditional writer, and they are not simply someone who can generate large volumes of AI content. They should be able to:
Understand the opportunity → Develop the strategy → Define the editorial approach → Leverage AI and automation → Execute end to end → Measure the results → Iterate
