Position Responsibilities:
Work closely with software engineers to establish best practices for development, testing and deliveryÂ
Work closely with other teams to drive innovative solutions to meet business needsÂ
Collaborate closely Product Owners and other stakeholders in an Agile environmentÂ
Research and evaluate emerging technologiesÂ
Prototype to gain customer insights Â
Proof of Technology to innovate and incorporate new technologyÂ
Have opportunities to mentor co-op students  Â
Required Qualifications:
At least 3-5 years of experience in Frontend and Backend technologies such as HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, Typescript, Node, Angular 2+, React and JavaÂ
Experience in working with Database such as MongoDB and SQLÂ
Experience in Framework and API / Service Layer such as Spring Boot (Rest Template, Feign Client, Zuul, Sleuth/Zipkin, Hystrix and Maven), Swagger, Node/Express. Â
Familiar with NewRelic and Kibana.Â
Good Foundation in Test Driven Technologies such as Jasmine, JEST, Mocha, Junit, Mockito (Java)Â
Good Foundation in CSS Best practices and Framework like Material UI, BEM, SMACSS, CSS Flex-box, CSS GridÂ
Awareness and adherence to best practices of web standards, testing, and coding for accessibility (ARIA, WCAG)Â
Good Foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OO Design with rock-solid programming skillsÂ
Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new featuresÂ
Understanding of software development lifecycleÂ
Understanding of how technology supports Manulife business strategyÂ
Occasionally participates in demos utilizing new tech.; control guidelines requiredÂ
Familiar with modern software architectures and API-driven developmentÂ
Familiar with technologies such as: API Gateways, Messaging, Data Event Streaming, REST, SOAP, Distributed Tracing, Relational and Document Database Interface/SQLÂ
Collaborative attitude, willingness to work with team members; able to coach, participate in code reviews, share skills and methodsÂ
Works together in a small team with a common purpose, follows rules from team membersÂ
Preferred Qualifications:
Exposure to PaaS and micro-service architecturesÂ
Exposure to and understanding of Agile scrum methodologies and experience of working in an Agile teamÂ
Experienced in grasping and explaining high level solution architecture Â
Exposure to and basic understanding of collaboration tools like Slack, Skype, JIRAÂ
Knowledge in SonarQube, Fortify and WebInspectÂ
Knowledge in PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry)Â
