Software Engineering Lead

Location: Middleton WI / 100% Remote, USA

We’re looking for an experiencedSoftware Engineering Lead who is passionate about building modern, scalable, and secure web applications. In this role, you’llmentor and guide a team of talented developers, while driving thetechnical design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions.

As a key technical leader, you willshape the architecture, enforce best practices, and collaborate across teams to deliver exceptional products that make a real impact.

What You’ll Get to Do:

Technical Leadership

• Lead a team of software engineers todesign and build modern web applications using multiple web technologies. Frontend Technologies:React/Angular;Backend Technologies: Object Oriented ProgrammingJava/C# and Python.
• Define, document, and enforcecoding standards,development processes, andengineering best practices.
• Drive solution architecture and play a key role inhigh-level design discussions.
• Ownership: Take accountability for assigned features and software components from clinical/commercial intent through technical design to delivery — translating expected clinical behavior into software requirements, designs, and implementation, and driving them across functions to completion.

Hands-On Development

• Contribute directly tocoding and implementation of key features and components.
• Conductcode reviews to ensure the highest standards ofquality, security, and performance.
• Troubleshoot andresolve complex technical issues in both development and production environments.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Partner withProduct Owners, Architects, and QA teams to deliver features on time and with excellence.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering continuous learning and professional growth.
• Actively participate insprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management.

Cloud & DevOps

• LeverageMicrosoft Azure for application hosting, storage, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring.
• ChampionDevOps practices, including automated testing, continuous integration, and seamless deployments.

Skills and Experience

Professionals at this level areseasoned experts with strong leadership capabilities and technical depth. Typically, you’ll have10–12 years of experience and be comfortable collaborating across functions, leading complex projects, and communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including2+ years in technical leadership role.
• Proven expertise with:
• • Front-end: React.js (or similar modern JavaScript framework)
  • Back-end: Java, C#.NET (ASP.NET Core), Python (Flask/Django/FastAPI) (or any object-oriented programming language)
  • Cloud: Microsoft Azure / AWS  / GCP, Platform services.
• Strong understanding ofsoftware architecture, design patterns, and microservices.
• Hands-on experience withCI/CD pipelines,Git, andAgile methodologies.
• Excellentcommunication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience withcontainerization (Docker, Kubernetes) andInfrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
• Familiarity withsecurity best practices, including OAuth, JWT, and Azure AD.
• Knowledge ofdata engineering ormachine learning pipelines.
• Experience delivering software within a regulated environment (medical device / healthcare, FDA design controls, or equivalent QMS), including design documentation, verification evidence, and requirements traceability
