Job summary:
Â
The Schmiedel Laboratory at the La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) seeks a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team to explore the intersection of genetics, immunology, and functional genomics.
Â
Our research focuses on elucidating the regulatory mechanisms that control gene expression in human immune cells to understand how genetic variation contributes to complex immune-mediated diseases. By integrating cutting-edge single-cell multi-omics (scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, spatial transcriptomics) with functional cell-based assays using human and mouse models, we aim to translate genetic discoveries into novel diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets.
Â
Â
Required qualifications:
Â
- PhD or MD/PhD in Immunology, Genomics, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a closely related field (completed or nearing completion)
- Proven expertise in one or more core areas: human immunology and cell biology (primary cell culture, flow cytometry/FACS, functional immune assays); genomics and epigenetics (single-cell technologies, NGS library preparation); in vivo models (experience with mouse models for immunological or translational research)
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed scientific journals relative to career stage
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills
Â
Â
Preferredqualifications:
Â
- Basic computational literacy (R and/or Python scripting) to interact with bioinformatics or perform preliminary data exploration
- Familiarity with genome editing techniques (CRISPR/Cas9 knockout, CRISPRi/a screening assays)
Â
